CANADA Canada - Brighton, Ont, Fem foot in running shoe, on Gull Island, Sep'13

I am really wondering how old that Puma sock is, because a google image search of several different terms reveals not a single matching black puma sock.

In the summer of 2011, the Mizuno Wave Prophecy was taking the running shoe world by a storm.

What I find intriguing, is that all the articles discuss how very gender specific the shoe is.

So....why was a man's foot found in this woman's shoe. More importantly, whose is it

SUMMER’S HOTTEST RELEASE: MIZUNO WAVE PROPHECY
News July 20 2011
— By Nora Holloway video at link

Where’s the foam? Runners maybe caught scratching their heads when first taking in the sight of the Mizuno Wave Prophecy. Those who can get past this initial bewilderment will be pleasantly surprised with the support of the shoe.

Backed by years of R&D, the Wave Prophecy is supremely lightweight (14.4 ounces) and takes shock dispersion to a whole new level. The sole is structured to provide stability and match your natural spring rate and running gait. Utilizing gender-specific engineering, the designs differ in the men’s and women’s designs to maximize the performance of the shoes.
Due to the intricacy and elaborate sole construction, there is a distinct lack of midsole. That might be for the best — we all know that midsoles are the first thing to wear out in even the best pair of running shoes. The color scheme is as hot as the July temperatures outside. Bold tones of reds, silvers and blacks are used throughout.

The uppers fit almost like a second skin which keeps the foot secure during whatever adventure lay ahead of you. Not to mention that its super ventilated with the breathable upper and the system of “ports” integrated into the sole. Bring on the heat!

Surprises compounded! Don’t be shocked when your new running companions arrive in a impressive black box. The detour from the signature shoe box has caused quite a stir. The consensus is that you could totally repurpose it.

The Wave Prophecy has been touted as one of the most expensive running shoes on the market. Coming in at around $200, they might be right. But who can really put a price on innovation?

Blogs such as the RunningShoesGuru.com stated that the shoe will be best appreciated by the neutral runner.

I remember reading this thread weeks ago and I was shocked to see it was a male foot inside the shoe.

This is just a thought, I wear a size 11 and my dad wears a size 9.5/10 shoe. If I'm at my parent's house and he's going to go outside quickly to take the trash out etc. he will sometimes throw on my shoes that I leave by the door. I'm wondering if this UID did the same? Possibly wasn't planning on going anywhere and put someone else's shoes on quickly just to do a chore and met with foul play.

Also, in regards to the socks, I know that Puma has outlet stores. I'm wondering if they produce socks specifically for their outlet stores (which don't have a website to purchase outlet store products online) and may explain why the a duplicate picture of the socks couldn't be found. I've read that many companies manufacture products specifically for their outlets, their stores are not always stocked with just last year's line of clothing or shoes etc.

This reminds me of the homosexual pole dancer from Toronto that cut a young Chinese student into pieces and then fled to Germany. Wasn't a foot mailed to a private school in Vancouver, and another one to the Prime Minister's office? Could it be a smaller cross-dressing homosexual man with size 9.5 women's running shoes?

Luka Magnotta. Great thought. I am thinking cross-dresser or male prostitute.

Well, at least we have a time frame for the UID. 2011 - 2013

I very much lean towards an American UID because of the Lake and the current, but, wouldn't rule out a man from Toronto or Niagra region.

Just came across this missing person, Dashad Smith and wondered if there could be any connection to this case?

"A police poster released just prior to the one-year anniversary of Smith’s disappearance on November 20 features pictures of Smith, a 2011 Charlottesville High School grad who was openly gay and frequently dressed as a woman, and puts emphasis on that second man, the only named person of interest in the case, Erik T. McFadden.

“His present whereabouts are unknown,” reads the poster"

Good one, Dotr. Maybe a tip about the remains should be sent in to Sages investigation? You never know.

You can slap me down for this suggestion but reading through this post I had macabre thoughts.
Could there be a nutter who has access to corpses. A morgue worker or someone who works in a funeral parlour with a weird foot fetish? All of these feet turning up is so way over the top. I do realise some have been identified but what about the others? JMHO

ITA, it's beyond weird. Perp would have had to move East, since the majority of the Canadian shoes/feet were found in the BC region. Very, very odd. I mean, it's making me crazy trying to figure it out. :banghead:

LE needs to release a photo of what the shoe looked like new. If it's the one I posted above, which I am pretty sure it is, it looks alot different than the weathered, exposed to the elements shoe released to date. It also would be helpful to release the race of the male and any other info known, like TOD etc.

Am wondering about distribution on the Puma sock. Also noticed what could be extreme wear visible on the pinkie portion of the shoe, only noticed it just now in the picture at this link, but, I really can't tell if it's the style of the shoe or actual wear. I still can't find a picture of one of these shoes on the Internet. I think it may be an old style. Is it just me, or does the shoe really point up quite alot. Could indicate something about the gait of the victim.

I think Mizunos generally have toes that point up

What do people think about this pic for the original shoe? The Mizuno logo (the thing on the side of the shoe like an elongated triangle) is orange like the shoe in the original pic.

Interesting comment under the FB post for this lady, a young girl thinks this is her mother.
I tried to search her moms missing info - found nothing.

This hopefully is the correct thread although the moniker Miss x is not used.

"The autopsy indicated the body part had been in the water for a period of a few days to 10 days, but could not determine the sex, race or cause of death, Snyder said.

The foot was discovered shortly after noon on Wednesday under sea grass at Peck Lake Beach at the north end of Jupiter Island, north of Palm Beach. After a ground and helicopter search over several miles, investigators found a matching shoe but no other human remains.

The shoes were all white except for the New Balance logo, estimated to be size 7-9 and described by Snyder as a running or cross-trainer style. Snyder said his gut reaction is that the victim was male.

"It's a kind of shoe I would buy and I wouldn't buy anything that looked like a woman's shoe," said Snyder, acknowledging that it is "not a scientific answer."

Bumping this case and wondering if anybody has been identified yet.

Trying this one on for size..

Hey, Dotr, that's a good find.

Send it in.

Only thing is I *think* these Mizuno shoes were produced after 2008.

We need more info. This is a major clue to a deceased UID. I have been to the location where the foot/shoe was found. Believe me it is unusual.

" BRIGHTON -- Police continue to investigate after a women’s foot was found on Gull Island, in Presqu’ile Provincial Park.

The foot -- inside a size 11 women’s running shoe -- was found on the north shore of the island around 2:14 p.m on Sept. 11. Park staff were on the island and found the foot in the water near the shore, according to the OP"
It was a woman's shoe, but did DNA tests confirm it was a woman's foot as well, because I recall discussion of it being a man's foot in a woman's shoe.
