CANADA Canada - Cochrane, AB, WhtMale 2228UMAB, 20-60, off Hwy 22, Oct'12

Many tips, people may not have been able to get through:

The response of tips from Alberta residents has been overwhelming, filling the voice mailbox of the RCMP tip line, said Sgt. Patricia Neely.

“If you attempted to call and couldn’t get through, we encourage you to please phone again,” said Neely. “All tips will be followed up on.”

At this point in the investigation, the Calgary Medical Examiner has determined the remains belong to a Caucasian male between the ages of 20 and 60. It is believed that, at some point, the deceased had a broken nose.

The remains were located near a rural property along Township Road 252 last October 13. Cochrane RCMP responded to the call.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the RCMP Tip Line at 403-699-2709 or via email at kdiv-calgary-mcu-tips@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

http://www.cochraneeagle.com/articl.../identity-of-remains-continue-to-be-a-mystery

...The Major Crimes Unit has been working to identify the remains for the past year.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has compared the remains to all known missing persons in Alberta and British Columbia which met the known parameters of this person, and has liaised with the The National Centre for Missing Persons and Unidentified Remains (NCMPUR) of the RCMP to compare these remains against all missing persons in Canada, but have had no success.

A forensic sculptor was contracted to reconstruct a visual representation or facial approximation of the unidentified person, and those images, as well as related forensics have been forwarded across Canada, and now down to the United States, and throughout missing persons registries across North America, including the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) in the United States, and the DOE Network, a volunteer organization devoted to assisting law enforcement in solving cold cases concerning unexplained disappearances and unidentified victims from North America, Australia and Europe.

The RCMP is asking people to look around and note if there is a family member, a friend, or neighbour not seen in over a year.

So chances are this UID is someone who has likely never even been reported missing --- correct???...

The short video here shows where this man's head was found. It was found right at an entranceway beside the road. WTH?

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...-remains-investigated-near-cochrane-1.1219639

Watched the video. Very strange indeed as to where the skull was found. And by children playing. The investigators had flagged the location and it appears to be someone's laneway/driveway. Wonder if they had a dog who found it and brought it to that location? If so, there must be more remains/bones close by wouldn't you think? It's just really odd that it would just show up at that location which is probably traveled often kwim. In other words, it hadn't been there all along I don't believe. Did someone just toss it there shortly before it was found. Being as it was Oct. 2012, school would have been in and by the looks of it, in the country, children probably took a school bus. Found it waiting for school bus? I know the reporter said "children playing".

At 11 seconds into the video, you can see a blue pick up up in the upper right corner. Hard to tell if this is someone's home property thought. The number on the sign on the fence post is 43080. Is that similar to our #911 emergency numbers in the country here in Ontario? I tried to google map it but didn't have much luck locating this property. MOO.

The number is indeed for emergency services to locate the property. Coyotes, wolves, fox, bear ... all capable of moving body parts.

Try: 43080 township road 252 Calgary T0L

http://goo.gl/maps/8X7MB

(???)

But having a hard time locating any driveways...and the video posted upthread by wondergirl (ty) won't play for me -- tho I see the still shot of LE parked on roadway near entrance but not blue truck...yet.

:dunno:

I keep looking.

ETA: true dat Otto, don't forget cougars!

Is his body still missing? I haven't followed the case and hadn't considered the possibility. Knowing the location of the head might help in terms of estimating where the rest of the body might be ... which may provide more evidence in terms of identifying the victim? Do police not have his clothes?

Towers Trail, starting at Toki Road in Cochrane might be possibilities.

NEAR Cochrane. Oh ok the reporter said SOUTH of Cochrane. Not sure if that makes any difference but... yes the # on the post is 43080. Maybe this link will work.

Otto you would think they searched the area well looking for a body wouldn't you? That's why I wondered if say a dog (or another animal) may have taken the skull from the actual location. Of course this was over a year ago the skull was found.

Sounds like there was more than just a skull found. I guess because of the latest specifies a skull, I assumed that was all there was. And a search with K9 was done last year. In some articles they narrowed the age to be 18 to 30. MOO.

Calgary, Alberta – One year ago yesterday, human remains were located near Cochrane. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Section, the RCMP Special Tactical Operations Team, and Dog Unit completed an extensive search and scene examination of the area to recover any additional remains and evidence. The Major Crimes Unit has been working to identify this person for the past year.

BACKGROUND:
On October 13th,2012, Cochrane RCMP officers responded to a report of what was believed to be found human remains at a rural area near Cochrane, Alberta. RCMP Major Crime investigators as well as Calgary Forensic Identification Section assisted. The items were sent to the Calgary Medical Examiner’s office for examination.

The Medical Examiner’s preliminary examination confirmed that the remains were human.

Try: 43080 township road 252 Calgary T0L

http://goo.gl/maps/8X7MB

I happened to be in the neighborhood and checked the area REAL QUICK...

This actual address is on the road i linked above but east of the spot google gave --- the address is east of the curves in the road --- if turning west off hwy 22 onto township road 252 first on left u pass a large riding stable next is tower ridge estates road...next road is range road 43...after that #43080 is the first house on the right...that's the exact spot where that cop car is parked in that video up thread.

What's interesting about this location is right across the road from 43080 is a trail into a farmers field....there's also a water hole of some kind.

Also 43080 is in a 'dip' with a slight hill on the east side as approaching and to the west is a larger hill with a huge newer beautiful home on top. Also while driving west up the bigger hill just after the 43080 property there's a sign to do with a school bus stopping ahead or something like that, iirc.

If u zoom out you will see this township road 252 actually has EASY access to the transcanada hwy. from both the east and west.

Fwiw.

Eta: maybe not making very good sense after logging 750 KM in 9 hrs - all apologies.

His teeth look like he could have been a long time pipe smoker or someone who had something in his mouth a lot. The teeth don't look meth mouthy to me. Maybe chipped in the front due to a fall or contact sport (like hockey) with subsequent erosion. But, the circular shape pattern looks like someone with a pretty long standing piper habit. IMOO.

Daniel Carver has chipped/damaged front teeth that would have eroded over time, possibly impacting the lower teeth. https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/2655

Could they be wrong about the age of UID?

I ask because Alexander "Sandy" Byron Abt was 44 when he disappeared in 2008

https://secure.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/missing-disparus/case-dossier.jsf?case=2008023899&id=0

Notes re: his teeth caught my attention: Visible Decay, noted to have decaying/missing teeth - no further descriptors.

Also, first post in his thread inmissing but not forgotten thread says he could be in Alberta:
