EDMONTON – The son of a former Edmonton police chief confessed on a witness stand Wednesday to the murder of his ex-girlfriend Dana Turner.

But the woman's mother said Wednesday's news has not brought her any closure.

Mark Lindsay took the stand in a Kamloops, B.C., courtroom Wednesday during his two-day trial for robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and aggravated assault involving an undercover Mountie.

During his testimony, Crown prosecutor Will Burrows said Lindsay acknowledged that he killed his ex-girlfriend, Dana Turne."

“This sounds crazy, but she was a powerful witch and she could communicate with me psychically,” he testified.

Lindsay is the son of former Edmonton police chief John Lindsay.

His confession was one of three he made on the stand Wednesday, including that he slashed an undercover police officer and stabbed a man in the eye with a pencil at the Kamloops Regional Correction Centre while playing Scrabble.

The Crown asked that Lindsay undergo a psychiatric evaluation and the judge in the case will consider the request Thursday.

Lindsay testified the group of serial killers wanted to scare him out of town based on false allegations that he sexually assaulted one of their friends.

The son of a former Edmonton police chief who admitted in a Kamloops courtroom to killing his ex-girlfriend and then attacking an undercover Mountie and, later, stabbing his cellmate in the eye with a pen has had his trial delayed...

Lindsay’s lawyer has asked for more time to have the psychiatric state of his client evaluated by doctors. In 2012, a Kamloops judge found Lindsay not criminally responsible by way of a mental disorder for the attack on the undercover officer and the cellmate...

His Alberta trial is now slated to begin in February.

The trial still has not happened, as far as I can tell.

The second-degree murder trial began for Mark Lindsay Tuesday with Lindsay admitting to... stabbing Turner in both eyes with a pencil while the two were in a vehicle in August 2011, then strangling her with his shoelaces, and dragging her out of the vehicle before driving over her twice...

Lindsay’s lawyer is arguing his client shouldn’t be held criminally responsible for the killing because he’s been diagnosed with schizophrenia. It’s expected much of the trial will be spent looking at medical evidence to determine whether he’s criminally responsible.

A judge must now decide whether an Alberta man who admits he killed his girlfriend can be held criminally responsible for her death.

Final arguments wrapped up in Red Deer on Thursday at the second-degree murder trial of Mark Lindsay. Lindsay has admitted he killed Dana Turner in August 2011, but says he did so because he believed she was part of a group of supernatural serial killers...

The judge's verdict is expected May 13.

''Marc Nesca said Lindsay did not develop normally as a child, showed bizarre behaviour and attachment issues and started abusing substances at around 10 years old.

Lindsay's mother testified that her son was paranoid and heard voices. She said Lindsay had told her in March 2011 that he heard a plot to kill him being broadcast on his neighbours' TV. "

chilling testimony from the mother. Have to wonder if there was any attempt during his childhood to get him some psych help at all???

On Friday, a Court of Queen's Bench justice found Lindsay guilty of second-degree murder...

Yurko may be pleased with the verdict, but she's still bitter about the way the first attack on her daughter was handled by the courts... "If they had locked Mark Lindsay up on June 22nd when he stabbed my daughter in the head with a knife, if they had locked him up then instead of releasing him on August 12th, my daughter would be joining me for dinner today"...

Lindsay will likely be sentenced in July.
