GUILTY Canada - Natasha Cournoyer, 37, Laval QC, 1 October 2009

<snipped>MONTREAL - Laval police Thursday say they have found an object possibly linked to homicide victim Natasha Cournoyer on the side of Highway 19, near de la Concorde Blvd. Details concerning the object, which was located yesterday, have yet to be released.

Police say they will close one lane of northbound Highway 19 between de la Concorde and St. Martin Blvd. this morning as a safety precaution while officers conduct a more thorough search of the highway median and the sides of the road.

I wondered if Natasha told anyone else about a suspicious car following her, according to a poster who translated (from French to English) an article where she called MT because she was afraid while walking to her car.

Not sure why, but to me this was a red flag as there were no more supporting reports that Natasha said this to co-workers or other friends.

Not sure if I can post the link to that poster, and to the article in French.

Here's my question:

The family of Natasha Cournoyer announced that her funeral would be held this weekend with the public being invited to express their condolences to the family at the Complexe Saint-François d'Assise, on Beaubien street in Montreal.

What's interesting is the choice of the church complex: it is a ten minute drive from where Cournoyer's body was found.

It would appear that the East End of Montreal was meaningful to the Cournoyer family. If that is true, then Natasha Cournoyer's killer probably had a close connection with the Cournoyer family. I put a map of it on my website. www.theresaallore.com

Journal de Montreal is reporting that some items found of Sherbrooke street – including a cell phone and purse – did not belong to Natasha Cournoyer.

The case has gotten very quiet; the police are mum, and her boyfriend, Michel Trottier is staying out of the newspapers:

<snipped>MONTREAL- Friends and relatives of Natasha Cournoyer arrived at a funeral home Friday on Beaubien St. E. to say goodbye to the woman whose violent death remains unsolved.

The visitation precedes a funeral scheduled for Saturday in St. Sauveur. Cournoyer lived in the Laurentians but grew up in Anjou.

She was last seen alive leaving her office in Laval on Oct. 1.

Her body was discovered in Point aux Trembles days later.

There is a good pic of the boyfriend here. http://www.montrealgazette.com/news/Family+bids+farewell+Natasha+Cournoyer/2111742/story.html

Natasha popped into my mind this evening, so I thought I would check for updates. There was an arrest. The creep kidnapped/tried to kidnap a little girl back in 2003.

Claude Larouche, 48, has been arrested in connection with the death of 37-year-old Natasha Cournoyer, whose body was discovered in east-end Montreal on Oct. 6, 2009, five days after she was last seen leaving work at the Correctional Service of Canada office building in Laval.

Larouche surprised to find victim in van, murder trial told Tabernacle, she didn't leave,' defendant testifies

By Sue Montgomery, Gazette Justice Reporter June 14, 2011

When Claude Larouche opened the sliding door of his van the morning after a cocaine-and crack-fuelled night, he was surprised to see Natasha Cournoyer's knees, the rest of her body covered with a bedspread from the motel the two had been in the night before.

Had never heard of this case before but stumbled upon it while looking up a case that happened in my hometown in Maine that also involved someone named Larouche. Not the same person obviously. Since it is not mentioned in this thread yet just thought I'd post the info that Larouche (the Montreal case) was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced 25 to life. That is one creepy looking fellow.

"MONTREAL — A suspected serial killer already serving a life sentence for the brutal sex slaying of a woman in 2009 is about to go through a sentencing process that could see him declared a dangerous offender.

Claude Larouche, 52, was already convicted, in 2011, of murdering 37-year-old Natasha Cournoyer and behind bars by the time he pleaded guilty, on June 28, to the attempted murder of a prostitute a little more than two weeks after the homicide. Cournoyer, an employee with Correction Service Canada, was grabbed by Larouche in a parking lot after she finished work at an administrative building in Laval. Larouche sexually assaulted Cournoyer before killing her and dumping her body in Pointe-aux-Trembles.

According to police sources, Larouche has also been investigated by Montreal and Laval police as a suspect in the murders of three other women, including the Aug. 10, 2009, death of Sonia Frappier, 30, an escort killed in Laval weeks before Cournoyer was killed. Larouche has never been charged with the three other slayings"
