Thank you Carl! Does it look to you like the rear lamps on the car pulled from the lake are not round? It is hard for me to tell, but imo, they look more like the 'triangle' side on the 64 versus the round rear lamps on a 63.

Or am I just thinking I see that?

thanks!

Is there any local or Canadian WS'rs in contact with LE regarding this doe?

I wonder if they can wipe off or clean up the rear car lamp well enough to read the date imprinted on the plastic covering. On the older cars, they usually list the make and year. (It was molded into the plastic covering).

That might be a way to confirm the year and make if LE has not already done so.

Here is one picture of a 1964 Chrysler 300 from Americandreamcars.com

I'm trying to find some side and rear pics of the same car.

No need to delete. those are great pics too Cymro. Better choices than what I posted imo.

I'm glad she was identified so quickly. They got lucky:

Police found ID in the car. "We were very fortunate [Tuesday] when we were taking the vehicle apart that we were able to locate personal identification and papers that were still intact, even after being 38 years submerged in the water," Penticton RCMP spokesman Sgt. Rick Dellebuur said Wednesday.

It is said that no foul play is suspected, and the family does not want her name published.

I still wonder what happened to the car's plates.

Has anybody sleuthed this to find out who this girl is? I tried with no success.

The article indicates her name was not released per request of the family.
Based on her family's wishes we are not going to sleuth her identity.

The good news is LE was able to identify this woman quickly and now her family has answers to what happened to her and may lay her to rest properly.

Prayers for the family of this woman. I'm so glad she has her name back.

An Okanagan paper has revealed the name of the woman whose remains were discovered in a sunken vehicle in Skaha Lake.

Betty Thomas, a 19-year-old woman from the small Similkameen town of Keremeos, disappeared weeks before her 20th birthday.

Family members told the Penticton Herald that Thomas went missing in November 1971, leaving her husband and toddler son wondering where she had gone.

So sad. At least her husband and son know she didn't leave them willingly.

Rip Betty.

Betty Thomas was a young mom living in Keremeos when she suddenly went missing more than 38 years ago. For members of her family,
including her toddler son who was then raised by his grandparents in Hedley, her disappearance remained a mystery. Until now.
