Perhaps girls are being trafficked from around this area?

Maybe this sort of thing was going on with some of the missing females.

TORONTO -- Vice squad detectives are looking for girls who were forced into the sex trade by a Toronto man now charged with pimping.

York police rescued two teens, aged 16 and 17, and a 24-year-old woman who were allegedly forced to work as prostitutes when they arrested the suspect on Aug. 31, but they know there's at least one other girl, 16, they've identified and want to reach.

Detectives suspect there are others who were also forced to work for the man.

Police said they started an investigation of suspected prostitution-related activities at a hotel. The girls and the woman were being advertised on Internet sex classified sites.

Wow, that is a lot of girls missing. So sad!

I live in Vancouver and I honestly don't think the numbers are that high here at all, even in one year.

Wow, indeed. I'm not familiar at all with Toronto and my first thought was that maybe the numbers were not out of whack with the population. I've always admired Hollye's mapping skills and thought this might provide a good learning opportunity.

Here is a link to the map of the missing girls--just those listed by Deeds since 10/28/10...I did not include where bodies were found or older cases. Essentially, Toronto is now up to 20 missing girls from an area with a radius of 6 miles, and 10 miles by 10 miles in area (being 100 square miles total(ish)), in less than one year.

http://g.co/maps/j233m

I still wasn't sure if that was out of whack or not so thought I would do a comparison with an American city. Chicago seems more the right population size, but LA was easier to work with for me, and is bigger...therefore, should, in theory, have more missing girls on a per capita basis. Here is the same radius/sq. mi area around LA:

http://www.freemaptools.com/radius-around-point.htm?clat=34.0628990350628&clng=-118.25408935546875&r=16.09&lc=FF0000&lw=1&fc=FF0000

It's not an exact apples to apples comparison, but you can go to the following links and map ALL missing adults and missing children in that LA area (zoom in to about an inch=5 miles) :

http://www.missingkidsmap.com/ (data from NCMEC)

www.missingadultsmap.com (data from LBTH)

There don't seem to be anywhere near as many missing adults+children in the LA radius--and that is counting ALL that are missing, not just those missing in last 11 months!

The big remaining question for me is whether all of the girls are still missing, or which among them is. If all are still missing, then I can't see how you can ignore the fact that Toronto has some sort of real, very serious and quite scary issue on its hands!

Oh my, and I just ran across this article:

To get to Uxbridge, ON (location of Margarita Shumakova remains) and Caledon, ON (Location of Kera Freeland remains) from Toronto the fasted route it the 407 (Pay highway), so... It wouldn't be out of the question to look at the 407 receipts and non-transponders photos from both nights the victims went missing and see if there are any cars seen on both days... yes there is other ways to get to both places without the 407 but I think it worth a try...?
