There was a case, I believe in 2000, where a girl named Candace was suffocated to death in a "medical treatment" to try to get her to "rebirth" as a new child, because her adopted mother, Jeane, claimed she didn't love her enough, and wanted her child to be more loving. So she went to a clinic in Colorado, and Connell Watkins and William Goble, "attachment therapists" as they called themselves, sat on top of her with a few other "foster parents", who volunteered, to try to simulate what it was like to come out of the womb. They kept asking her if she wanted to die, and to just do it, to die already. She suffocated and died while her mother watched from behind the glass in another room. The max those two therapists served as 16 years, and the mom served 4. It outrages me to this day, and I want to know if there are any updates on them, since I've never heard them mentioned since.
