I believe the defense will take a very simple stance: that the state has not proven their case against their client. They will attack the only tangible link between Casey Anthony and a dead Caylee, the forensic "junk" science from the trunk of that Pontiac Sunfire. I don't think they will allow Casey to testify on her behalf. There are too many things that she cannot explain.
They will talk about "ugly coping" when faced with the party pictures.
They won't offer any real theory on what happened to Caylee. They will simply point fingers at everyone else involved, saying anything is possible.
The defense will simply say that the state has no actual evidence that Casey Anthony intentionally murdered her daughter. They will bring up an unknown cause of death. They will state emphatically that all the state of Florida has is a weak circumstantial case. There are no witnesses to the actual crime. They will continually remind the jury that there is no smoking gun, and that Casey's life is on the line. Jose Baez and company will not commit to one theory of what happened to Caylee. They will just say they do not know what happened to her, and that nobody else does either.
