CO - Dylan Redwine, 13, Bayfield, 19 Nov 2012 - Information & Support

This is heartbreaking. I watched the 2 episodes of Dr. Phil and can't believe this man wouldn't take a lie detector test.

I also noticed at the very beginning of the first episode, the father referred to Dylan in the past tense TWICE. I was very surprised that Dr. Phil didn't ask him about it. I couldn't find the clip on the Dr. Phil site, but if you have it on a DVR, you can find it where the father is speaking and is wearning a ball cap and it's dark outside like he may be at a cande light vigil. He says something to the effect of "Dylan was a great kid." The statement right after that one also refers to Dylan in the past tense.

Thank you Summer Breeze for all of the updates. :)

The investigation into Dylan's disappearance continues, and while some have lost hope that any sign of the boy will ever be found, many Vallecito residents are not only holding out hope, but are eagerly anticipating the spring thaw so they can resume the search.

Searchers have found the remains of Dylan Redwine, a 13-year-old boy who disappeared while spending a court-ordered Thanksgiving week visit with his father last year, the LaPlata County Sheriff's Office said Thursday.

Sheriff's Department spokesman Dan Bender said a variety of items, including bones, have been identified as Redwine's.

Bender said the Colorado Bureau of Investigation positively identified the remains Thursday and notified Redwine's family. The bones were found during a five-day search in the Vallecito area along 12 miles of USFS Middle Mountain Road.

Bender would not identify the other items found with the bones. He said Dylan's disappearance is being treated as a criminal matter, and he said the boy's

parents are cooperating in the investigation.

About 45 law enforcement and search and rescue workers were deployed, working more than 1,600 man hours during the search, Bender said.

The latest searches, through steep drainages with extensive ground cover, were not the result of new information, Bender said. They were part of a series of followup searches conducted after the snow melted.

Redwine disappeared while spending a visit with his father, Mark, in Vallecito, near Durango. He lived near Colorado Springs with his mother and her boyfriend.

Mark Redwine said he left Dylan at home alone while he was out running errands, and when he returned, his son was gone.

Dylan's parents have blamed each other for their son's disappearance. In appearances on the "Dr. Phil Show," Elaine Redwine said she believed Mark had something to do with their son's disappearance, while the husband said be believed his wife was involved.

Searches for the boy were called off during the winter months, but resumed in the spring.

Middle Mountain Road is north and within sight of Vallecito Lake. The search area ranged from 8,000 to 11,000 feet altitude amid deep canyons and dense forest, the sheriff's department said in a news release.

Middle Mountain Road parallels the road that Mark Redwine lives on, and both roads take off from the north end of Vallecito Lake. The road Redwine lives on has houses, businesses and RV parks on it. Middle Mountain Road runs through rugged backcountry without any development.
