Denmark- Several dead in Copenhagen mall shooting; suspect arrested, 3 July 2022

July 3, 2022
''COPENHAGEN, DENMARK -
A gunman opened fire inside a busy shopping mall in the Danish capital on Sunday, killing several people and wounding several others, police said.
A 22-year-old Danish man was arrested, Copenhagen police inspector Søren Thomassen told reporters, adding there was no indication that anyone else was involved in the attack, though police were still investigating.
Such shootings are rare in Denmark. Thomassen said it was too early to speculate on the motive for the shooting, which happened in the late afternoon at Field's, one of the biggest shopping malls in Scandinavia and located on the outskirts of the Danish capital. When the shots rang out, some people hid in shops while others fled in a panicked stampede, according to witnesses.''

BREAKING: Danish police confirm that this is the shooter from the #Copenhagen #fields attack.

Suspect had uploaded a series of bizarre videos two days ago where he pretended to shoot himself with a pistol and a rifle.

Police say the weapons were acquired “legally”.

The suspect also had a series of chilling playlists titled “Killer music”, “Last thing to listen to” and “Feeling sad”.

The suspect also talked about a strong anti-psychotic drug called Quetiapine which is used to treat schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

A gunman who opened fire inside a Danish shopping mall on Sunday - killing three and critically wounding four - has mental health issues and there is no indication the attack was an act of terror, police have said this morning.

The shooter, a 22-year-old ethnic Dane, shot three people dead with a rifle inside Field's mall in Copenhagen in a rampage that began at 5.35pm Sunday and lasted for 13 terrifying minutes before he was arrested.

The victims are a 47-year-old Russian national who had been living in Demark and two Danish 17-year-olds - one male and one female, police revealed today.

Four more people are now in critical condition in hospital: Two Danes - both women, one aged 40 and another aged 19 - and two Swedish citizens - a man aged 50 and a woman aged 16. Investigators say it appears the victims were chosen at random and the attacker acted alone. He is due in court later today.

The man had posted videos on social media the day before the attack in which he posed with a handgun and rifle he is thought to have used in the shooting and put their muzzles to his head. He uploaded several playlists to YouTube entitled 'Killer Music' and 'Last Thing to Listen To', writing underneath that 'Quetiapine does not work'.

Quetiapine is a powerful anti-psychotic medication that is used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression. It can also be used to treat drug addiction.

Investigators spoke out after footage emerged showing the gunman - dressed in a dark vest, shorts and boots - strolling casually through the mall and carrying what appears to be a hunting rifle.

That’s horrifying and comes only a week after shooting in Oslo.
It’s rare for things like this to happen here in Scandinavia. Luckily he was caught quickly without causing more deaths. Although few people are still in critical condition including Swedish citizens . It feels too close home for it to happen here and today when I was at the shopping mall in Stockholm city center I felt uneasy and watched my surroundings.

''Danish police believe a shopping mall shooting that left three people dead and four others seriously wounded was not terror-related, and said Monday that the gunman acted alone and appears to have selected his victims at random.

Copenhagen chief police inspector Soren Thomassen said the victims — a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, both Danes, and a 47-year-old Russian man — were killed when the gunman opened fire on Sunday afternoon in the Field's shopping mall, one of Scandinavia's biggest.

Four other people were treated for gunshot wounds — two Danish and two Swedish citizens — and were in critical but stable condition, Thomassen said. Several other people received minor injuries as they fled the shopping mall, he added.

Thomassen said police had no indication that anyone helped the gunman, identified as a 22-year-old Dane, during the attack. He said while the motive was unclear, there was nothing suggesting terrorism, and that the suspect would be arraigned later Monday on preliminary charges of murder.''
