Female Body Found!

There was a brief video on one of the Chicago news sites, showing the police pulling the body from the water, but you can't really see anything. My impression is that the body was small, and this only from the fact that it didn't look like it took much effort for the police to pick it up. The video is here at this link - the story is on the right column.

It isn't small. I stopped the clip I found on another site and you can clearly see the body bag length would be that of an adult. It took several men to move it (appears to be 6). The weight would be heavier since they said it was frozen.

Regardless of if it's Stacy, it's good that a body has been found and now a family somewhere can start getting some answers to what happened to their loved one.

Body of Woman Discovered in Lake Michigan
CHICAGO (STNG) ― The body of a 27-year-old Gold Coast woman was found in Lake Michigan near Fullerton Avenue on the North Side Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called to the 2400 block of North Lake Shore Drive of reports of an unresponsive female body in the water at 2:40 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Tom Polick.

"It is a death investigation at this stage," Polick said.

The woman was identified as Robyn Bercovici, of 63 E. Scott St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Bercovici was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 5:50 p.m. Saturday.

Well, there ya go...........

Darn it!!! I saw this thread title and got so hopeful.....

The body was frozen which I would think indicates she has been there for a little while as the temp when they found her was at 33 degrees.

My first thought when I read the other thread was Stacy. Do we know of another missing woman from the Chicago area recently?

The WATER temp was 33 degrees. The air temp last night was BRUTALLY cold. We're under a Wind Chill Advisory. It was supposedly 20 below zero last night. My furnace has been working overtime since yesterday morning!

"A WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON CST /1 PM EST/ TODAY.
MORNING TEMPERATURES OF 10 TO 15 BELOW ACROSS FAR NORTHERN ILLINOIS COMBINED WITH WINDS OF 10 TO 15 MPH WILL AGAIN PRODUCE DANGEROUSLY COLD WIND CHILLS OF 20 TO 25 BELOW THIS MORNING.
WIND CHILLS OF 20 BELOW WILL CAUSE FROSTBITE IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES. PROLONGED EXPOSURE TO THESE DANGEROUSLY COLD CONDITIONS CAN LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA AND SERIOUS HEALTH RISK.
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN."

She sounds like she was a bright and enthusiastic individual. I hope this was just a tragic accident instead of a suicide. Either way, still a horror for her family. Bless their hearts.

Now see. If we were all "Drew's guilty about everything" we would have already blamed him for this.

:D

How sad. Look at this friendster profile for her. What happened that she ended up in the lake? :(
http://profiles.friendster.com/13255203

Her Myspace profiles say that she enjoyed running and rollerblading. Maybe she went out for a morning jog and fell in. Lots of people jog year round on the shore of Lake Michigan. There is a jogging path that spans the Lakefront downtown.

I'm just theorizing that it's possible she was jogging in the morning, slipped, fell into the Lake and drown, then someone discovers her frozen body at 2 am. Even if it was 20 below yesterday, I think it would take HOURS for her body to freeze out there.

That's why I think it happened in the morning and it took a while for someone to find her...

At least her family will have closure. I was hoping too.

What a dear sweet person she seems to be..so sorry for her family friends.
