I think Wendi is very involved, but I think she was smart enough to make sure she never created any definitive evidence positively linking her to the hit. I hope they are able to prove her involvement and/or knowledge and arrest, indict, convict and sentence her accordingly. As upsetting as it is for the children, the majority of the A's are narcissistic sociopaths who have no business raising young children. And when all is said and done, albeit a painful transition for the children, it will be in the best interest of the children to be raised by Dan's family.

Agree.

What if Wendi set things in motion to eliminate Dan and mom and Charles.

So only her and the other brother will share dads inheritance when dad passes.

Idk.

Idk.

Much money will go down the drain with legal fees.

Does anyone think that the Adelson’s may have made extensive arrangements to take care of Garcia’s and Rivera’s families, children, mothers and so on.
Extensive meaning college, nicer homes, retirement centers/nursing homes?

And for this, Garcia and Rivera are willing to be quiet and serve their time. Hoping for a minimum sentence, then appeals and good behavior?

No- especially after that Jail phone call. No way.

This times a million, precisely my sentiments and I couldn't have said it any better.

I hope so. I hate that money can buy ppl's way out of evil deeds.

The sole suspects? Lol

Mark Sievers thought Curtis and JR would be the only sole suspects before his arrest 6 months after theirs as well. Lol.

The dots will soon connect enough to read an entire book about why Luis and Sigfredo did what they did.

Jmo.

Poor guy, it seems like Dan Markel always had some kind of a nasty surprise waiting for him when he got home.
Since this was the argument the fine lawyer DM always " circled " back to, wondering if it is the same route the prosecutors also might take?
imo, speculation.rbbm.

Something that bothers me, and no one has ever pointed out is that Markel did the visiting professorship at NYU when the children were very young. The children were born July 2009 and Oct 2010. Markel was visiting professor at NYU for all of 2011. Here's the entry on NYU's site http://www.law.nyu.edu/centers/adminofcriminallaw/facultyandstaff/scholarsinresidence/2011 . And here's the FSU course schedules that show him not teaching in Spring 2011 https://web.archive.org/web/2010121...demic_programs/curriculum/spring11byclass.pdf and Fall 2011 https://web.archive.org/web/2013022...cademic_programs/curriculum/fall11byclass.pdf Both schedules show Adelson teaching, but Markel is not. (Both taught in Fall 2010 and FSU even published her due date in the course schedule https://web.archive.org/web/2010061...cademic_programs/curriculum/fall10byclass.pdf.) He already had tenure and guaranteed high paying employment in Tallahassee, but he still did the year of two-under-two at NYU. I can't find an NYU course schedule for Spring 2011, but I would assume that if he was visiting professor there that he was physically in New York, even if he came home on the weekend.

He finalized arrangements while his wife was pregnant. In January, when he'd have started in New York, his wife had to care for a 3 month old and a 17 month old at the same time. It's really hard to take care of young children. She had to work. There she is on the schedule teaching in January 2011, with classes starting while the baby is still 2 months old. People who knew him growing up tend to be from Canada, but these children were born in the U.S. and under U.S. maternity policies. Maybe that is why no one bats an eye. This was the second baby. He knew what a newborn would be like. Even if he came home on weekends, that is not the same as being there consistently at 3am. The divorce could not have been a surprise.

This coupled with the news article about, "Despite the continuing anguish over his divorce, Markel was moving on. He'd fallen in love with a new woman, a law professor at New York University in New York City, friends said, where he often visited and in 2011 was a scholar-in-residence." http://www.tallahassee.com/story/ne...line-innovator-friend-violent-death/13232743/

I'm not saying he should have been killed or in any way trying to justify that. I'm saying that it's not reasonable to think the divorce was a surprise.

This was covered in the previous thread.

It seems to me there was an incredible lack of mature communication between the
two.

I think most would agree that there had to be a better way for WA to handle the divorce than her abrupt departure with the boys and every stick of furniture in the house.

I can certainly relate to her unhappiness but she lost all my sympathy the day she left the house empty and used their boys as pawns.

Welcome to Ws tallycat!
Thanks for the post which helps put things in some perspective in regards to, imo. WA leaving the house empty and the kids in tow.
One can understand the rage that could motivate one to behave out of usual character, imo.
Raising two very young children and working at a high profile job, while a partner chooses to work in another city and, who ultimately, gets into a relationship with someone from that city, might well push anyone's buttons.

A Jewish woman once wisely told me that, " When your husband sees you didn't die having the first baby, you will be schlepping boxes with the second one".
In this case, the boxes and everything else, were schlepped right out the door!
imo, speculation.

Oh come one, I know lots of women who have "careers" and they stopped them when they had children until the children were in school! The children came before their "careers". Dan and Wendy certainly had enough money to do this.

Maybe they were at odds over whether he should give up his career for the kids, or she should give up hers. There seemed to be some professional rivalry between them.

It does not seem like very devoted parent to spend so much time away from such young children.

WA was hooked up no matter what, imo. Armed to the teeth ( literally) she could have easily afforded to stay home with her 8 week old " sunshine " and joined her husband in NY for whatever time period he was there.
He also could have done the same, but perhaps he did not have access to the same type of family " bankrolling " when needed, as WA allegedly did, and had to make his mark (el) professionally.
Plus, strictly imo, as important dads are for their children, tiny babies and little toddlers really need their moms.

The essential rivalry seems to me, to be based on professional competition, posed as a family one.
At stake were reputations and money, a whole lot of money, and the children, the prize.

imo, speculation.

You are exactly right.

There is, iirc, a special day of remembrance for Dan M at his synagogue tomorrow, so thought this might be appropriate.

Dan was firmly ensconced in the legal academy," Logan said. "It's rare for professors to have such a broad reach."

Michael Cahill, a vice dean and professor at Brooklyn Law School, is remembering his colleague by adhering to a life of gratitude that Markel tried to practice and hoped to instill in his sons.

"I know that personally in the wake of the loss of Dan, and to face my own personal inclination to feel only rage and injustice and sorrow, I have tried in these past weeks to accept as a final gift from him the will to seek out some sense of gratitude for the life that he led and the time that I shared with him," Cahill said.

Shelly Markel spoke on behalf of her family.

"He was a serious guy, an academic, a professor, and yet he always knew his priority was his boys and he wasn't afraid to let the entire world know it," she told the crowd. "As painful as these last weeks have been, my family and I find a measure of solace and comfort knowing that Danny lived and embraced life fully and in turn was embraced so warmly by all of you."

I don't think the reasons for the divorce were the same as for the murder. If he'd been a neglectful parent, his inlaws would've been happy. It was because he fought for his rights as a parent that he was killed.

I also agree that babies and toddlers depend on one primary caregiver and the spouse plays a bigger role as they get older.

I feel like the breaking point for the A's was when they got it in their head that Dan Markel was portraying WA as mentally off and of inferior intelligence to Dan and those other brilliant minds in the Tallahassee legal community. I get a big "nobody puts baby in the corner" vibe from A's. It's one thing that he had the audacity to want to live in the same city as his young children, but it was clearly another thing when the "golden child" who was valedictorian of her high school and oh so special was being looked down upon as not one of the superior people. Once the A's decided that this was what was going on, Dan Markel had crossed a line and was viewed as pure evil by these sociopaths and deserved everything he had coming.

Wait a minute! For one thing, a visiting professorship doesn't come up often. It isn't something one easily turns down. I am sure DM and WA had many conversations regarding this which came at a very inconvenient time in their life.

On the same hand, WA did not have to teach that year when she had two babies at home and a traveling husband. My assumption is she didn't want to sit out a year on her career.

Many households have husbands who travel all week and are home only on the weekend. This is not an oddity in itself. Marriages do survive this as it is a part of their life. These two were young, just getting both their careers and families started, so many adjustments are made during these years.

And don't kid yourself, WA had plenty of help during the week to run the household. Someone had to keep those babies, did she have in-home care when they were small? She also had a housecleaner who did laundry or a separate person for it, I imagine.
Where there is money, there is plenty of help so WA was not strapped as a single mother would be. I am sure her parents saw to it that she had an easy life while Dan was in NY.

My opinions only.

A source told me in passing recently that WA was very stressed and frazzled in 2011. I've never assumed that she had no reasons for the divorce. I've always believed that it's a person's prerogative to seek a divorce if they no longer want to be married. But it seems like she felt entitled to the divorce, the kids, and no more Dan except for his money. Doesn't work like that...

She probably felt he hitched his wagon to her star. But he had more going for him then she wanted to believe.

Because it's all about her. She let her families prominence and hawking professional men; Get the best of her delusional mind.
