Jared Galen Bridegan (33), father of 4 ambushed & killed (shot 4 times), his 2-year-old daughter was just feet away in the back seat, Jacksonville Beach, Feb. 16, 2022.
*Henry Arthur Tenon (61/now 63) arrested (1/25/23) &
charged (1/26/23) & arraigned (2/16/23) with conspiracy to commit murder in the 1st degree, 2nd degree murder with a weapon, accessory to the fact to a capital felony & child abuse. Plead not guilty. Held without bond (murder) & $1.5M (other counts).
In Tenon's court file "on or between 1/4/22 & 2/16/22, in the county of Duval & the State of Florida, did agree, conspire, combine or confederate with other human beings to, unlawfully and from a premeditated design, effect the death of Bridegan."
Trial was set to begin on 7/19/23 was cancelled, Tenon plead guilty (3/16/23) to 2nd degree murder. Sentencing hearing on 6/14/23 was vacated & rescheduled on 7/12/23 & was vacated.
2nd case ID #16-2022-CF-008168-AXXX-MA for Driving while license suspended or revoked-Felony & unlawful speed (requires speed). Hearings running concurrent with murder case.

*Shanna Lee Gardner-Fernandez (36) indicted & arrested (8/17/23 by ATF agents in West Richland, Wash.),
charged & arraigned (11/3/23) with 1st degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit a capital felony & child abuse. DA will seek the DP. Held without bail on Fugitive warrant (in Benton County, WA). Was extradited on 10/20/23 to Florida. Plead not guilty. No bond.
*Mario Enrique Fernandez Saldana (34/now 35) arrested (in Kissimmee, Orange County, 3/22/23) & charged & indicted (3/16/23) & arraigned (4/4/23) with 1st degree murder with a weapon, conspiracy to commit 1st degree murder, solicitation to commit a capital felony & child abuse. In Orange County jail waiting for transfer to Jacksonville in Duval County. Transferred to Duval County on 3/22/23. Held without bond. Plead not guilty. DA will seek the DP.
Trial set to begin on 4/13/24 for both.

2/13/24 Update: Pretrial hearing on 2/14/24 was canceled & reset on 2/16/24 @ 9am. 2/15/24 Update: Defendant's motion to schedule evidentiary hearing & memorandum of Law.
2/16/24 Update: Pretrial hearing with Judge London M. Kite presiding. Asst. State attorney Christina Simak Stifler, attorney for defendant Gardener Jose A. Baez & defendant present in jail. Other present: Patrick Karody (defense/Gardner). Attorney for defendant Saldana Frank John Tassone, Jr. Defendant present in jail. Other presents: Jesse Dreicer & James Hill (defense-Saldana). An issue regarding Fernandez Saldana's defense team's efforts to have the 4th Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office tossed from the case for failing to maintain confidentiality. The defense expressed new concerns about its motion to disqualify the State Attorney’s Office & will be filing for dismissal of the indictment. Judge London Kite said it was her understanding that there was just one contested document that the two sides had agreed on. The judge said in a case of this magnitude & because there are so many disagreements, she’s going to ask the chief judge to appoint an independent judge to review the material. In addition to the hearing, Gardner's defense team filed two subpoenas on Feb. 9, one to Publix for her employment records & one to Walmart for five receipts for purchases from Jan. 27, 2022, to March 6, 2022. One of the purchases was on the day Bridegan was killed Feb. 16 & another was two weeks earlier for the same amount of $50.31. It's unclear what those purchases were for. The new documents also state that the investigation identified five people likely involved in the conspiracy, but no charges were filed against the two other associates, one of whom is a former reserve police officer and a felon already in custody on unrelated charges. Next for both status hearing on 3/4/24 @ 9am.
2/29/24 Update: Saldana: "Due to the sensitive nature of the privilege Defendants have asserted & in abundance of caution, the undersigned will not conduct a review of the substance of the contested materials,” wrote Judge London M. Kite. “Upon due consideration, the Court requests the Honorable Chief Judge Lance M. Day to appoint a Circuit Judge to review the contested materials to determine whether the contested materials contain attorney-client privileged information.” In the November, 223 filing, Fernandez Saldana’s defense claimed that the state mishandled communications from his electronic devices & got their hands on confidential communications between the defendant & counsel. For now, Kite has stayed the proceedings until Day handles the private review of the relevant document & makes a determination about the case. Docket update: per email: 1:30pm to be heard by Honorable Robert M. Foster will preside to address issue relating to the In-Camera inspection. Hearing on motion on 3/7/24 @ 9am & a status hearing on 4/8/24.
