NORTH FORT MYERS: Lee County Sheriff's Office investigators have found human skeletal remains in a heavily wooded area in North Fort Myers.
A man walking in the woods near the intersection Birkdale Avenue and Southeast 24th Avenue discovered the remains Tuesday afternoon, then contacted the Sheriff's Office.
Investigators recovered a human skull along with several other "major bones" about 100 yards from the roadway.
They're still trying to get through the thick brush, using machetes to clear a path to where the bones were found.
The man who stumbled upon them calls it a traumatic experience and says a pile of clothing was found along with the bones
