Hooks and Daugherty remain convicted of second-degree murder in the January 12, 2006, death of Norris Gaynor, a homeless man who was sleeping when he was set upon by Hooks, Daugherty and their friend William "Billy" Ammons...

The three were also convicted of attempted murder stemming from pre-dawn attacks on two other homeless men — Jacques Pierre and Raymond Perez...

Hooks is now serving a 30-year sentence for his role in Gaynor's death. Daugherty, who was tried with Hooks, was originally sentenced to life in prison, but his term was later reduced to 40 years. Ammons is serving a 15-year sentence as part of a plea deal.
