That the taxpayers have paid for, I remember one set of previous attorneys actually went to Costa Rica, or some South American country where JB is from to interview some people. Haven't they heard about Zoom?!

Trial was set to begin on 4/6/20 reset for 6/15/20 & cancelled due to guilty plea on 9/20/20 & now has new attorneys, plead not guilty on 1/7/21.

Police officers found Nubia dead on 2011 Valentine’s Day — wrapped in plastic and soaked in chemicals in the back of Barahona’s truck. Nubia’s twin brother Victor survived the torture.

Prosecutors charged him with first-degree murder, seven counts of aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm and torture, and seven counts of child neglect.

Barahona was first booked on March 23, 2011. Five inmates were accused of covering up security cameras and attacking him on March 1, 2021, to punish him for the crime.

Barahona’s wife, Carmen Barahona, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges. A judge sentenced her to serve life in prison.

I did not know that Carmen was already sentencing to life in prison. Wonder what date that was...
 
"Incompetent to stand trial". Jorge, manipulates yet again. I have no doubt that he is completely competent, and manipulating everyone on a puppet string.

A psychiatrist found Brian David Mitchell "competent" simply by the fact that he was acting crazy when it was to his benefit, thus demonstrating "competence". I believe that Jorge is probably playing the same game.

The lengthy case of a South Florida man accused of killing his adoptive daughter and badly abusing her twin brother has been put on hold more than 13 years following his arrest after he was found incompetent to stand trial, but not before a massive amount of money was spent on his defense.

Jorge Barahona, 56, was found incompetent to stand trial by a Miami-Dade judge at a hearing back on March 1.

Judge Andrea Wolfson made the determination after he was evaluated by three doctors, and two found him incompetent.

According to a document obtained by NBC6, more than $2.4 million have been paid in court-appointed defense attorney invoices as of March 1 in the Barahona case.

Prosecutors had announced that they'd seek the death penalty against the couple, but Carmen Barahona pleaded guilty in 2020 in exchange for cooperating in the prosecution of her husband.

Jorge Barahona's trial was scheduled for April 2020, but was postponed by the coronavirus pandemic.

In 2021, he cut off communications with his legal team and a judge appointed a new lawyer for him.

A 2022 NBC6 report detailed how a state commission uncovered fraudulent billing practices connected to seven Miami-Dade defense lawyers, including three who worked on the Barahona case.

The Justice Administrative Commission in Tallahassee had provided five attorneys for Barahona, three of whom withdrew from the case over the course of eight months in 2021 citing the deterioration of their relationship.

As of the 2022 report, one Barahona attorney had been paid more than $800,000, while another had been paid more than $1 million in fees.
 
I really do not know why she has a hearing - since she already plead guilty - but I shall go ahead & post this.

Nubia was 10 when she died. Jorge's been playing the system for 13 years. Something wrong with the math here.
