Posting Ms. Leventhal side by side with the original sketch. Was this ever called in?

Just noticed there is a postmortem photo. Thinking Ms. Leventhal looks less like the actual photo.

In looking for an old news article on this, I ran across a strikingly similar case...woman sexual battery and homicide, body dumped in woods in Sorrento....LE found body Dec. 3, 1991, only four days before this UID was found....Court records indicate different guy was convicted but still thats eerie.... Is Sorrento really bad or is that a total coincidence?

According to Namus, here is UID's perp (photo is 10 years old though)...

This is a very interesting article but wasn't the victim found in 2001? I thought the Jane Doe was found in 1991.

You are right. I was caught up in the coincidence, I overlooked the fact that these very similar crimes were ten years apart. MO was different but it still is odd. I'd love to see state murder statistics because it seems like Florida is constantly popping up with these awful cases but maybe I'm wrong.

No the similarities are striking. I read that this UID's killer was convicted but I can't find any information on him or the case. Very strange and very frustrating. One would think that any information he might have might help to further solve this case.

Karl, great impression of the UID!

I was looking at her face from the post mortem photo and noticed 2 things.
The lip pigment (lipstick) does not trace her lip-line correctly - her bottom lip is fuller (naturally) even if there was swelling, her lip seem/is rounder. The darkness of the lipstick colour makes her smile thin.

2) Her eyelids: - I had a friend with lovely skin except for her eyelids - they were very creased due to some medical condition she had. Her eyelids looked like creased tissue paper. The UID's look very similar - and she has no crows feet or other deep-set lines. Wondering if the UID had the same condition. My friends condition would get better slightly - then go back to being very creased. Her eyes also would become puffy and look large or bulged.
I dont know what its called - sorry.

Not sure if this was posted before but I found an article about this UID:

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com...00_1_jane-doe-unidentified-woman-woman-beauty

....Mitchell recalled something else, too. The woman said something about being from an area east of Sorrento, perhaps Port Orange. But the real clincher for investigators was that Mitchell's shop was within eyesight of the place where Rolle worked: The Orlando Sentinel's regional printing plant on State Road 46.

Mitchell was the hairdresser who had a client she testified she was sure was the UID.

:bump: for image revision.

There would have to be quite a story to account for the missing 6 years, but when I see the post-mortem photo, I can see a lot of Karen Louise Wilson. I'm not feeling the recon, there's something off with the chin and something else I can't put my finger on.

Even though there was no evidence that she ever left NY to go on her trip to Florida, maybe she made her way (or was taken there) anyway ? In the meantime, probably nothing good - poor girl.

Not sure what I'm doing with this yet. If anyone is up to doing a side-by-side, I'd appreciate it.

Opinions ? I don't tend to get a lot of response here on Websleuths, but I'm persistent, so here's another one...

You could be onto something here. Click on the thumbnail to enlarge.

And I'm sorry I haven't been as responsive as usual; we're having a bit of family drama recently and I haven't had as much time to spend here. :(

I found an interesting article about Karen Wilson and two other young women from New York colleges who disappeared the same week, which was spring break week. The other two women were found murdered in what was apparently an unrelated incident--but to my mind it opens the possibility that Karen did indeed leave for Florida; the location where they think she could have been abducted is also where she might have been hitching a ride. If she got to Florida, met somebody, stayed and had a child--well, it might be possible.

Thanks, Carbuff. I've e-mailed Namus and I got a reply almost immediately. They said that they need to get some additional records to perform the comparison, but that they would work on this. I think that's encouraging, but my guess is that it will take some time...

Another article I found on this Jane Doe.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1997-04-16/news/9704151327_1_broumand-land-rover-jane-doe

Lake County sheriff's detectives have not been able to identify the woman known as Jane Doe.

She had cocaine in her bloodstream when her body was found, and she had muscular legs, leading detectives to speculate that she may have been an exotic dancer.

And this article...an artist has created an exhibit dedicated to Jane Does. She posted a blog about this Jane Doe and painted a picture of her for her exhibit.
