During Well's first court appearance, Clayton County Chief Magistrate Court Judge Keisha Wright Hill went through the charges and described some of the allegations against her regarding how the mother allegedly stood by and watched her small child get beat.

"The victim sustained cruel or excessive physical or mental pain by allowing her boyfriend Napoleon Ates to cause physical harm to the victim with an alleged belt and hands," Judge Keisha Wright Hill read.

Investigators describe how horrific the alleged abuse was. "He was punching the 6-year-old like a grown man," said Sgt. Julia Isaac with Clayton County Police.

Hopefully he will receive a bit of "jail house justice" while incarcerated.

this article has this:

Ates and Wells are due back in court on June 26.

So I will put them both on 6/26. The court site for Wells has not been updated with any new court dates.

It's hard to believe this child was allowed to remain in that abusive home. That's a crime in itself.

Court documents also revealed Ates had warrants out of Forest Park for a January 2023 incident where he is said to have thrown the boy against a vanity, bruising the child’s kidney, and causing other severe injuries. However, he was never arrested. Atlanta News First reached out to the Forest Police Department, asking why Ates was never arrested but did not receive a response.

The most severe beating allegedly happened on Sunday when Ates accused the boy of stealing $80 and giving it to the 36-year-old’s roommate.
Why not be upset with the 36 year old adult roommate who accepted $80....from a 6 year old. The stupidity and cruelness of people somehow still surprises me.

I want to know how it is that Ales was never arrested or charged for the January incident in which he injured this same child??? What on earth is going on over at the Forest Park Police Department??

Hey!

and why was he granted bond this time around? WHAT THE WHAT? craziness

exactly, just because he's not currently a danger to the hospitalized child in grave condition doesn't mean he isn't a threat to any other children who happen to end up in his sphere.

I am going thru Ates court stuff - and MOST of the charges are bond DENIED!! Putting it together now - so give me a few as he has a TON of charges!!
So - no worries that he will be out! :)

BRB

Oh - hearing for him is NOT Mon. 6/26 - court site show 7/3.

ETA! Oops - my mistake - he does have a hearing on 6/26 for his January charges - not this case.

You all want me to keep up with those?

Ates - These are ONLY his charges for the little boy. Let me know IF you want the January charges - hearing on Monday.

My .02 is that this child should not be returned to his mother, either !
In fact, maybe adopted out to a good, loving and responsible family ?

How do we know that this sorry excuse for a mother will make better choices next time ?
Imo.

Another case where a mother puts her dead-beat boyfriend over her children. I will never, ever understand how these people lack any loyalty towards the children they literally carried and raised
