A man accused of kidnapping a woman after committing murder and arson in Sandy Springs appeared before a judge inside the Fulton County Jail Tuesday.
Mario Konecny made a brief court appearance before bailiffs took him back to his jail cell. He is charged with seven counts, including murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and arson.
A magistrate judge told Konecny that, due to the serious nature of the crime, he will not be allowed out of jail on bond. Konecny, 31, is accused by police of killing a man at a home on Brandon Mill Road in Sandy Springs, setting a fire to the home, and then kidnapping a woman.
Konecny drove the woman to Marietta, according to police, where she sought help from a convenience store clerk at a RaceTrac on Delk Road. The clerk called 911 just after noon on Monday to report a possible kidnapping.
Marietta Officer Brian Marshall said, She alerted the clerk that she was kidnapped and needed help. The clerk called 911 and reported the location of the vehicle.
Marietta Police arrived to box in Konecny's vehicle before he could flee the scene. A search turned up a man's body in the bed of the truck, authorities said.
Investigators have not released the names of the kidnapping victim or murder victim.
