Marvin Harkess, a 46-year-old from Snellville, hasn't been seen or heard from since Feb 2. when he showed up to work at Adapthealth at 5901 Goshen Springs Road in Norcross.

On Wednesday, his wife, Beatrice Diaz-Harkess, said Norcross Police had searched the area and even called in a helicopter to assist in the search, but so far, there has been no sighting of her husband.

"He left everything behind," Beatrice explained.

She said Marvin had been sick with the flu but was insistent on going back to work that Friday morning. The missing man's wife said he didn't look like he was 100% back to normal but said he was feeling OK to go back to work.

"We hugged, we kissed like every day, and he said, 'I'll see you later,' and that was it," she said.

As Norcross Police continued to search for clues, they tracked down surveillance video at a business next door that showed him walking along a fence line and then sitting down.

Beatrice said the video is worrisome because Marvin doesn't appear to be acting like himself.

"The way he's acting, he don't seem like he was in his set mind," she explained, adding, "That is not like him at all."

Beatrice said Marvin has never just disappeared. She said knowing he's out there without a jacket and no phone is concerning.

"He's not OK, this is not his character, this is not who he is," she said.
Marvin is a pathfinder counselor at his church in Conyers -- Conyers Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Marvin Harkess, 46, was last seen on Feb. 2 at his workplace, AdaptHealth LLC, according to a missing person bulletin shared by The AWARE Foundation.

The Snellville resident’s belongings and his vehicle were still located at work when he was reported missing.

I wonder if he'd taken Tamiflu for his flu symptoms. Some of the side effects are concerning. Hallucinations, abnormal behavior, confusion, etc., though further reading indicates those type of mental side effects are most common in children, not adults.

I wonder if Marvin has been dealing with severe depression? His disappearance from work at that time of day is certainly puzzling.

It looks to me like once he went out the back door of the office-warehouse type building (from the looks of it, his work vehicle was probably parked out back, where there are are roll up doors and loading dock ramps), he must’ve then walked south along the tree line behind the back curb of that back lot.

I’m guessing his phones (probably personal and business?) were found along this tree line where the curve is located (the parking lot drive turns and heads back out to Goshen Springs (the front of the building).

Then (watching the 11 Alive video), from the location the phones were found, I’d say Marvin went into, or just through, that narrow area of trees between the building in which AdaptHealth is a tenant and the Birchwood Foods complex (a group of large buildings, looks to include manufacturing or prep). He would have run into and then walked along the chain link fence with the barbed wire on top that is alongside the Birchwood Foods drive, walking east toward Goshen Springs.

It is here that I think he is seen on video walking along the fence line (slowly, with hands in pockets, appears to be deep in thought, contemplating) and he then sits down in the grass or pine straw not far from where the fence ends. We don’t know how long he sits at this location.

The only other info we know is that apparently his work shirt was found in a dumpster behind Eben-ezer Centro Evangelico Church (on Google earth referred to as Templo Ebenezer Pentecostal on the other side of the street. I am basing this on a quick camera pan from the 11 Alive video.

As to why LE (or others looking for MH) might think to look in that dumpster, my guess is that there is additional cctv footage of Marvin walking south on Goshen Springs (from street view, it appears there are three cctv cameras along the front of the Birchwood Foods building). I’m thinking that one of those cameras perhaps caught Marvin entering the drive of the church on the other side of the road. This is a guess.

It’s odd, however, as the drive (at the right end of the church building) is gated (it looks like a black wrought iron or painted aluminum fence gate and fence all around the church). At 7:30 ish am though, I would be surprised if anybody was working at the church that early, so I wonder why the gate (or gates) would be open (if it was)?

The whole thing is bizarre. To me, the only reason Marvin (or somebody else) would leave the two phones where they eventually were found is that he/they didn’t want to be tracked.

But then Marvin walks along the fence along the Birchwood foods drive and sits within (guessing) 20 feet of Goshen Springs, which is a pretty busy road. Out in the open. Was he waiting for somebody?

More puzzling perhaps is why he (or somebody else) would take off his work shirt and leave it in the dumpster. This seems to indicate he was not waiting for somebody out in front of the Birchwood Foods building.

If he was at one time behind the church and near the church dumpster, it seems this would almost rule out meeting somebody, or even foul play. In what scenario would somebody intending to either harm Marvin - or perhaps transport him to some location - take MH’s shirt off and place it in that dumpster?

An obvious thing LE (or MH’s family) would want to check would be: who was he taking to out back (when his boss saw him, before checking a second time and finding MH gone). Did he get some very bad news? Was he in some kind of trouble? Was the call related to his disappearance at all?

Hoping Marvin is found soon.

All jmo

It also could be symptoms of the flu or Covid.
