That begs the question "when" did the victim's families obtain an attorney??
Was he obtained as of late?
If so the prolonged stalking and threatening of him, his family and the victims is taunting and gusty.

Attorney John Ray has been on top of the Gilgo Beach investigation since the finding of Shannan Gilbert."

I've seen comments like this before. I'm not familiar with a lot of US media so, why is the NYPost considered "trash"?
It's a tabloid-type newspaper, famous for their headlines like "Headless Body Found in Topless Bar." The reporting tends not to be the best. The paper has celebrity news, sensational stories or sensational slants on stories, etc. But, it's a long-standing newspaper in NYC so Long Island serial killer stories will be heavily covered.

If as the wife you really had no inkling of this “side” of your husband - I think you would think it’s a terrible case of mistaken identity or an error in the lab, mistaken pings etc. The fact that you were married to a guy like this and bore his child etc while being unaware of his very depraved dark side will take more than one lifetime for her to process. So yes I can understand why she was in court. My heart breaks for her son who I believe lives with them and also for their daughter who works with the monster. I imagine the daughter was learning the business to take over when Rex retired.
Some of these guys are very good at compartmentalizing.
I have to add that just rom looking at the booking photo I don’t find him frightening looking or menacing. I need to watch the video. His size is certainly imposing but my first thought was gentle giant. Weird huh? Maybe I have seen too many Shrek movies because imo from all the evidence they have no question he is a terrible depraved sadistic killer. JMO

yes that would likely be my first reaction and I'd be in court at first until I heard some evidence

but his pale blue eyes ... I see no soul there

(he also reminds me of a previous boss who we all thought was a serial killer in his time off - same size, same height, same creepy eyes although I cant remember what colour they were, he even sounds like him)

So many questions about the major crime/car disposal conundrum. Does the new owner of that vehicle in question just have it seized, with no financial recourse? That could be devastating and highly disruptive to the average person's life. Not to mention the psychological trauma of knowing you may have been daily-driving a vehicle, maybe even with family inside, that has been used to carry murder victims and/or their dismembered remains. Wow.

take the loss and work a few extra hours for awhile

For those who have been around for awhile, were the individual threads on LISK victims and for Brewer, Hackett, etc. removed? The site has changed around a bit. Maybe I am simply missing them. I see 911 thread but not all of the ones I thought used to exist. Maybe I am misremembering.

Surely he would be curious about the status of all of his cases? It would be interesting if he googled the names of victims that have yet to be identified.
Bolded by me.
Good point.
Hmmm...

If this brings answers and maybe closure for hurting families, all the better for there to be more cold cases solved.
The victims' lives were important !
Omo.

Thank you! I have no idea why I had so much trouble. I think I'm overly tired and will be getting off soon. But I found exactly what I was looking for on P 4. - The "POI" threads (to refresh my recollection). Thanks again!

It doesn't seem likely to me, either.

However, I don't think I'll ever buy the theory SG took her jeans off while running (due to hypothermia nor anything else). Strangest strewn objects ever... her purse, pants.... etc.

ETA: I think Dormer even said her pants "fell off" o_O
I think it's a possibility that her pants may have gotten caught on something and she pulled them off to get free. Maybe she dropped her purse at that moment. Her body was found in a marsh with the tide coming in and out, lots of wild life present.... a very harsh environment. She was there for 19 months. I'm not surprised that there were missing bones. She probably ran in there and was very disoriented and could not find her way out.
I don't think she was murdered.

Hi everyone, while watching this lengthy interview that isnt particularity good or interesting in it itself but is now given the new arrest it is and I saw some things. Based on his way during it it struck me that this guy is extremely controlling and can lose his temper incredibly fast. You can sense the tension in his way of talking and what he talks about. He has very sadistic gratification kinks and devised a plan after meeting with escorts. It didnt start this way but as his dark pleasures grew it eventually resulted in this. He likely doesnt really understand why he is the way he is and how it spiraled out of control this badly but knows he is very dangerous and kind of wanted to be caught to no longer hurt anyone else deep down.

if he 'wanted to be caught ... deep down', it would only be for the notoriety IMO

My stepsister let a neighbor borrow her car on Christmas Day to run to the gas station. He never came back that night with the car. Several days later the police found him dead in the vehicle, it is a homicide, possibly by a hotshot. He may have been a police informant.

She has no idea when she will get her vehicle back. She is a single mom with two boys. Thank God my father is wealthy and bought her a second car so that she is not left with no vehicle.

I don't think she was murdered.

Murdered or accidental death of SG has been hotly debated by many WS members over the years. So I understand your thinking.

Her purse was found in one spot, her phone in another, her lip gloss, her pants in another. None of these were in a "trail" formation (as if she was dropping things as she moved). Doesn't make any sense for a police chief to suggest she just lost her pants. jmo

This is a long shot but I live in Florida and I have been following the Gilgo case but a few years back on I95 we a a string of murder ppl on the side of the road starting in Port Saint Lucie all the way to vero beach do you think this could be connected to Gilgo

Yes. Reading through the Bail Application makes plain that in the beginning the hairs were too badly degraded to be read in DNA. However, they were when resubmitted -- not the entire nuclear DNA but the MtDNA. My early guess is that this case might not have been solvable in 2010 but has had to wait for advances in technology to have the wealth of evidence they do now.
Mitochondrial DNA was in place at the 2007 Meredith Kercher murder and trial. When the hair follicle is missing, the hair can only be traced through the female line.

"Mitochondrial DNA is only inherited from our mothers and does not undergo recombination. This means that our mitochondrial DNA is identical to that of our siblings, our mother and her sisters, and her sisters' children, as well as to that of our mother's mother and her siblings, etc. This is limited by the fact that at some point, a random mutation will occur and would be passed on to the next generation. This is why mitochondrial DNA is used when we want to examine an individual's maternal dynasty."

Police had strands of hair on 3 bodies. Two strands belonged to a female. Familial DNA must have been used to connect the hair to Icelandic origin.

Simultaneously, police were developing the ability to trace burner phones, connect them to locations and other phones, and check phone records. My impression is that police identified the vehicle a year ago, but needed more evidence for search warrants. The hair traced to his wife, but she and children were away during the murders. Burner phones were connected to the murders and police have footage of the suspect adding minutes to one of the burner phones. He disposed of the phone after each murder.

It seems like advanced DNA analysis, Familial DNA investigation, and burner phone tracing had to come together for the arrest to be made.
