Qualifications for jury panel: US citizenship, resident of Horry County, ability to read, write, and speak English language, equivalent of 6th grade level of education, ability to render efficient jury service (mentally & physically), cannot be convicted in any state or federal court for any crime which you could have received a sentence of greater than one year, cannot work in court house or be a commissioned law enforcement officer or county leader, cannot serve if you've served as a jury member within the past year, you also can't serve if you've been on the Horry County grand jury within the past three years.

Will the children be dragged into the courtroom today or be allowed to attend school like normal kids?

Moorer is charged with obstruction of justice for allegedly lying to investigators about making a call to Elvis from a pay phone on the night of her disappearance.

More towards the end of the thread is probably more detailed because of information found during his kidnapping trial.
 
Jury panel exemptions: 65 years or older, prior jury service (served in last 3 years), grand jury service (served in last 5 years), small children (kids you have custody of, under the age of 7 with no alternative care available-basically a stay at home dad or mom), attending school or work at a school (doesn't apply to part-time students or online classes), employed at Dept of Corrections, or primary care taker for an elderly or disabled person.

During the last hearing, I remember thinking prosecution made incomplete/incorrect arguments on the basis for the obstruction that could hamstring her at trial. I'm going to be pissed if he's not guilty because it should be a slam-dunk.
 
I just wanted to clarify that our live stream will not be available during the actual jury selection. We are not allowed to show the potential jury members' faces or identify them. I will keep you updated though on what's happening.


Jury panel has been asked if anyone has any connection to Sidney Moorer. Only one man stood up, says he knows Moorer and was asked if that would affect his decisions for this case. He said yes. He has been excused.

Jury panel was asked if anyone has any connection to the attorneys in this case, Horry County public defender, or Horry County Solicitor Jimmy Richardson. One man stood up and said he is an attorney in town and knew several of the attorneys from his work, but he said that he wouldn't let those relationships affect any decisions he may be asked to make in this case. Another man stood up and said he was a distant cousin of Jimmy Richardson. But he answered the same. The judge allowed them to stay.

Judge Dennis didn't invite him to stay!? Shocking.
 
A list of witnesses was read off by the judge. Jury panel was asked if they had any connection to those people. One person stood up and said they went to high school with Morgan Elvis, Heather's sister. He said he might not be able to listen to her testimony without bias. He was excused by the judge.
