Didn't realise this reed8008, do you think he had anything to do with it then?
 
who knows. apparently the father didn't look very hard, did he? how hard would it have been? this child was in protective custody for 4 years. i also don't understand how they couldn't put those two together. the mother gave aliases for herself and for the child as well as giving child protection officers wrong birth date for the child (only she would know...). certainly seems that she was planning on coming back for her child and possibly hiding him/them both from someone? no women's shelters in 1977. would be the only way perhaps. she also left voluntarily against medical advice from the state hospital on Oahu (after observation) a week after the child was taken into pro. custody..where did she go? no record of her after that.
 
He left because they accused him of killing them both.. Why? Because people were willing to make things up about him without actually knowing anything, kind of like Reed is doing right now.

How about we stop blaming the victim, eh?

As for whether Marx met with his sister and father, he has. He also mentioned that he now celebrates his original birthday and the false one his mother made up. He seems to have weathered this well.
 
She is still missing. She needs her own thread. She is a victim too, as of now. Her family is still looking for her. Her daughter and her sister want to know what happened to her.

Circumstances of Disappearance
Charlotte Moriarty and her son Marx both disappeared on June 21, 1977, leaving behind only a baby's stroller at a Haaula bus stop. Moriarty took her son out for a walk at about 9 a.m., and the stroller was found at 1 p.m. at a bus stop at 54-295 Kamehameha Hwy. Marx's father, Mark Barnes, filed a missing persons report on July 10, 1977, more than two weeks after he found the stroller.

In the report, Barnes explained to police that Moriarty had "been missing on several prior occasions, but she had returned home all right" and that he thought this incident was another one of Moriarty's "'taking off' for no reason."

Ms. Moriarty's family however believes she would never leave without contacting family and did not disappear on her own accord, as her young daughter was due to visit her mother and her new half-brother the summer they went missing. Ms. Moriarty's family disputes much of the information Barnes gave to the police. According to them, Ms. Moriarty was not married to Barnes, and Marx was not 2 months old when he disappeared, but 6 months old. The family believes that Ms. Moriarty and her son, Marx, met with foul play.

Neither Marx nor his mother has been seen or heard from again.

Many sites have this lady listed as found. Some say found safe and some say found deceased. On her son's thread someone claimed she was found murdered. I can not any source at all that says she's been found. She still has Doe page and a Namus page. So, to me, that means she has not been found.

Her son, whom she left with someone under the wrong name and birthdate, found himself 30 years after going missing. I can only assume that's why there's so much confusion on Charlotte's status.

This woman was found alive in HI. She's now deceased. She had schizophrenia. She referred to herself as "ah." Her hight and age are close. However, she was found many years after Charlotte went missing. However, her son was on the same island he went missing from for many years and the connection was never made.

Can you cite your source? The blog you linked states she was never found. If they were matched both would have been removed from Doe/Namus. There is no mention of an accent for Charlotte (which would have been noted if it's unusual for the area) and they have different colored eyes.
 
Cite my source for what exactly? The Doe links for Charlotte and "ah" are in the posts above. There's not a lot of information available about Charlotte. She went missing from HI but it doesn't say anywhere where she lived before. Her boyfriend who didn't report her or their baby missing for 2 weeks, is said the have "moved back" to the mainland so. Could be assumed people knew she spoke with an "accent" if she wasn't native to HI. The boyfriend didn't even know how old his own baby was when they were reported missing. He told the police she was his wife. She wasn't married to him. If the initial report that he made, which had inaccuracies has never been corrected, her eye color could be listed incorrectly. It appears Charlotte's sister and daughter are the only ones looking for her and that they feel Mr. Barnes was never forthcoming.

Charlotte had mental illness and went missing. She made sure he baby was safe and ended up in a mental hospital where she left AMA. Her son was in an orphanage on the same island , while being missing, until he was adopted. On an Island and no one connected that?

It's entirely possible that Charlotte ended up in a mental health facility either on that island, another island or on the mainland. She may have been so sick that she couldn't remember who she was or maybe she didn't want to for fear of the boyfriend or prosecution for leaving with the child . Totally speculating.

But she deserves to be found and the sites that incorrectly say she has been found need to be cleared up

And this lady "ah" deserves a name.
 
Charlotte isn't on the list of exclusions, but this match was already submitted to LE in 2012.
 
I cannot find any information that mother has been located, deceased and is still listed as missing.
 
After watching Gone on ID tonight it makes me wonder if Charlotte was in a dangerous situation at home and the mental health "problems" she was experiencing is hiding the truth. I find it very bazaar that she gave the police a false name but never returned for the child. I also find it strange Marx hasn't met with his father after all these years.
