With each passing day, optimism fades on whether or not JJ or Tylee are still alive.

"At this point as we sit here today, my skepticism says no," said [LW, JJ's grandfather].

FOX 10 spoke with the 23-year-old brother of the children, [CR], late Monday night. [CR] wouldn't go on camera, but was clearly rattled by what's happened and desperate to learn their whereabouts.

Charles Vallow was killed by Lori’s brother, Alex Cox, in July in Arizona. Charles and Lori Vallow were estranged at the time of Charles’ death. Cox said he was acting in self defense.

[KVW] believes her brother would not have attacked anyone, and referred to the incident as murder. The Chandler (Ariz.) Police Department is investigating the shooting.

[KVW] said Charles and Lori were separated for a few months before his death after Charles suspected her of infidelity. She said Lori was financially dependent on Charles.

[KVW] believed Lori had joined a cult after listening to religious podcasts she made discussing the “end of days” published by Preparing a People, based in Highland, Utah.

When the Post Register contacted [M and NJ], who manage the Preparing a People website, they said it is a media publishing organization. The couple said much of their content includes religious podcasts and videos relating to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but that Preparing a People is not a religion.

[M and NJ] said they have spoken to investigators and hope the children are found safe.

Former FBI Deputy Assistant Director Danny Coulson speculated Tuesday that the two Idaho children at the center of a nationwide hunt are being held by members of a cult that is preparing for the end of the world.

“Without a lot of hard evidence, just from supposition and making judgments,” Coulson told “Fox & Friends.” “I do think that it has something to do with the cult or the organization. Without a doubt.”

“The focus here is the children. That’s what we’re caring about. They need to be addressed. They need to be brought to safety. But the people that are keeping them away from safety are their own parents and their own associates,” Coulson said.

Fremont County Sheriff Len Humphries says their investigations need facts, not more rumors.

"For any kind of an investigation to go forward, we need facts. Certainly, if someone has some information that is factual, or they know where we can obtain evidence, we would be very interested in knowing about that," Sheriff Humphries said. “Social media does tend to lend itself to lots of gossip, which doesn't really help anybody."

Questions have been asked about why the two kids had not been reported missing sooner, the sheriff says he has reason to believe they were pulled out of school so they could be homeschooled.

An attorney who says he represents Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow told the associated press that they love their son and daughter and look forward to addressing allegations. The Fremont County Sheriff's office says they have been in contact with that attorney.
