GUILTY IL - Willow Long, 7, Watson, 8 Sept 2013 - #5

He was transferred to the penitentiary and he decided he wasn't at all cut out for it. He is skeered and probably (hopefully) has been some what brutalized. His attorney tells him he has a chance to maybe change things, and he takes it. Sorry *advertiser censored** that he is.

This cowardly creep took the life of his niece, we know he has to register as a SO, we all know what he did and it had nothing to do with spending time in the bathroom with himself. This monster should rot exactly where he is. Willow's family (and her friends and her community) were spared the horror of the trial because this waste of breath took the plea.

He shouldn't have any other option.

MOO

Like many of the kids that play here, Ashley Harmann's daughter was one of Willow's classmates. She says the park will show kids that their friend lives on.

"This event has been put in a lot of people's hearts and memories so i'm sure there will be more to come after this."

It was nice to see the children of Watson playing and enjoying the equipment. Watson is such a small community. Everyone literally knows everyone. The murder of one of their own BY one of their own really devastated the little town.

So seeing footage of those in the community coming together and the children enjoying the fruits of all those volunteer efforts was really moving.

Bless this community moving forward.

Nasty DeRyke will stay where he belongs.

Instead of having to rule on the constitutionality question, though, Judge Koester instead was presented a new agreement between Kibler and Schmidt that DeRyke would plead guilty to first degree murder involving exceptionally brutal or heinous behavior indicative of wanton cruelty. State's Attorney Bryan Kibler and Judge Koester both said after the hearing that there are no constitutional questions concerning this provision. Kibler said the original agreement involving the provision regarding the ages of Willow and DeRyke was what DeRyke was willing to accept at the time. He termed the matter "basically a housekeeping issue."

Four women from Salem, Ill. were honored by Illinois State Police for their efforts in finding the body of seven-year-old Willow Long. Captain Kelly Hodge presented the certificates of appreciation to Hattie Williams; her daughter, Jamie Thompson; and Thompson’s two daughters, Frankie Smith and Jonny Smith.

“Despite being turned away due to sheer number of volunteers, they continued to search the area on their own. The girl’s body was found as they located a barely visible object in a nearby pond. Their persistence and decisive actions were crucial to the criminal case and subsequent arrest of the killer,” said Hodge.

Wow. That is amazing. I never would have dreamed that it would be four women. I always have this image in my head of four big guys in jeans, flannel shirts and work boots out searching. But that's kind of a silly stereotype. Great job, ladies! RIP to a sweet little girl who left us too young.

Ciara Deryke says she's trying to move past that, and focus on fundraising for the park being built in Willow's honor.

"It's very hard to get up in the mornings and keep going. Just because I miss her so much, and it hurts so much, that she is gone," Ciara said. "But I'd say their support, and love, and care help me get up on the days that its hard, and its good to know these people are here for me."

While my heart breaks for Ciara's loss, I have to sit on my hands and not say what I want to about her refusal to comment about her LIES told on the morning of Willow's disappearance.
