Defense attorney Jason Denny urged jurors to pay close attention to witness testimony, especially focusing on any motive a witness might have to lie. Denny noted his client was charged more than two years after Jada’s murder and that Tkachik, as outlined in his plea agreement, testified against Castillo.

“These two murderers are going to point the finger at Melissa,” Denny said. Denny said Castillo was a trusted family member who had babysat for 15 children over the years without incident. “There was no reason to believe there was any danger,” Denny said.

Judge Stefaniak threw out the charges in a directed verdict.
Melissa Swiontek is acquitted.

Tim Tkachik will be sentenced July 19. 20-50 and I hope to hell he gets 50.

I struggle with all of this, tbh. Here is the problem I have-she knew (imo) that these family members were dealing and were drug users. It doesnt matter if they babysat 15 times or 30 times without incident-these children were put at substantial risk.

Good on Mom that she wasnt convicted, but I dont believe that this means she didnt put these children at risk. I hope she can live with the knowledge that it didnt have to be this way.

Well.
The final chapter in this awful case.

Timothy Tkachik was sentenced yesterday. He will serve 40 years.

He was surprised at the harsh sentence. Seriously, that is what it says!
He will wake up every morning. Jada won't.



If I handed out justice, this man would be serving 40 years in a swamp, with Engelica.

This case was all but ignored by media.
Huge cities nearby and just a couple sites bothered to follow the case.
