Defense attorney Jason Denny urged jurors to pay close attention to witness testimony, especially focusing on any motive a witness might have to lie. Denny noted his client was charged more than two years after Jadas murder and that Tkachik, as outlined in his plea agreement, testified against Castillo.
These two murderers are going to point the finger at Melissa, Denny said. Denny said Castillo was a trusted family member who had babysat for 15 children over the years without incident. There was no reason to believe there was any danger, Denny said.
