To love, one normally has to be loved. Are you saying Patsy really didn't love THAT CHILD?

The use of "that child" does not, in and of itself, show disdain or indifference. I've seen this discussed elsewhere on WS as possibly a "Southern" term of endearment. I'm from the South, and I distinctly remember calling my little boy "that baby" on occasion, and I definitely loved/love him very, very much (he is now 38)... and no one who knows us would have ever doubted that fact. It IS a "Southern" thing.... MOO
