Case History
On June 11, 1998, a man was walking in a wooded area behind his home in the 600 block of Airline Drive when he observed what appeared to be the top portion of a skull protruding from the ground.

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office deputies investigated and recovered additional skeletal remains. The additional bones were determined not to be of human origin.

What appears to be a mounting hole was drilled into the cranium. The remains resemble other skulls that have been determined to be skull war trophies collected during Asian military action.

The remains were originally believed to be those of a male, however, DNA analysis in September 2010, has confirmed that they are those of a female

Just a few thoughts...

The Lone Star Feed hat doesn't belong to the victim (IMO). If there was a hole drilled into the skull, which was possibly used for mounting, the head had no hat on it while that was being done.

The fact that there were teeth glued into place in the jaw makes me think that this was done after death, for display purposes, or aesthetics... Nobody would try to do that as a method of home dentistry. If you have teeth falling out, you'd be too much in pain (with the inflammation and possible infection) to coat it with Elmer's and shove it back up into the socket.

I wonder if they've done DNA tests just to determine whether or not all those teeth belonged to the body that was found??

This makes me think that the victim either had less than ideal teeth to start with, or at some point during the murder, they got knocked out. However, the trophy keeper wanted a skull with a full smile...

Maybe the killer had it at his (home? shed? ranch?) as a trophy, but something happened, some sort of change in dynamics, that made him question the privacy he previously had. So, in trying to cover his tracks he needed to get rid of that evidence and clear out his (garage? storage?) ...he probably bundled the victim's remains he still had & boxed them up with some he'd acquired from hunting. Or farming.

In my imagination, the box has an assortment of random bones, etc + the skull. If he had a free cap lying around from some feed store, it would make sense to place it over the skull to look like it was tossed in there, but if he got stopped by LE or anything, it wouldn't be readily noticeable.

just my opinion..........

Investigators hope DNA provides answers in 30-year-old murder

A dog first found the bones of a young couple, likely teenagers who were murdered together and dumped a few feet apart in a remote patch of Harris County woods 30 years ago.
Their faces were recognizable, but in 1981 - and even now - no one knows their names.

The victims was discovered on January 12, 1981 in Harris County, Texas

They are among 400 unidentified John and Jane Doe cases dating back to 1950, though few of the unnamed are teens. A grant from the National Institute of Justice is being used to exhume 25 of those bodies in an attempt to collect DNA and identify people for whom investigators have unearthed unique circumstances or clues.
