GUILTY KS - Adrian 'AJ' Jones, 7, beaten to death, fed to pigs, Kansas City, Sept 2015

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas’ child welfare department and law enforcement officers soon will be required to visually observe a child when they’re investigating allegations of abuse or neglect under a bill Gov. Laura Kelly signed into law Friday.

The measure is known as “Adrian’s Law,” and will take effect by mid-June. The new law is named for a 7-year-old Kansas City, Kansas boy, Adrian Jones, who was murdered in 2015.

Kansas will pay $1M over KCK 7-year-old’s brutal death

TOPEKA, Kan. — Kansas will pay $1 million to settle a lawsuit over 7-year-old Adrian Jones’ murder in 2015, alleging that the state’s child welfare agency should have removed him from an abusive home before he was starved and tortured and his body was fed to pigs.

Gov. Laura Kelly and top leaders of the Kansas Legislature approved the settlement during a brief public meeting Tuesday after conferring with state Attorney General Kris Kobach’s top deputy in private for 30 minutes.

No amount of money can replace what Michael Jones and Heaher Jones did to poor little Adrian. God rest his soul! imo
