Distinctive Characteristics: "Morton's toe" and big toenails filed to a point
Clothing: ‘Levi’ 560 jeans 34X32; diamond-pattern boxer shorts; white socks and Brown Timberland ankle-high boots size 11 Medium
Accessories: Red soft pack of ‘Marlboro’ cigarettes in front left pocket and a yellow ‘Bic’ lighter in front right pocket
Circumstances of Recovery: Found floating in the Ohio River near Cincinnati, Ohio.

One MP on the OH missing persons site
John Myron Reed Jr missing from Zanesville OH 29/11/1998. The Muskingum River runs through Zanesvillr and later joins the Ohio. His van was found in Newark OH which is at the Licking River (also joins the Ohio).
Reed matches on Height, hair color but slightly over target weight. I’ve seen discussions that it is hard to estimate live weight when someone has been in the water that long.

On the downside he was wearing brown shoes but not Timberlands according to the missing report. And no mention of any distinctive dentals or toe length.

I think this is a good find!! A few things from CP that stood out to me:
“On December 2, his van was found at an apartment complex on Cedar Street in Newark, Ohio, (1)near the county jail. The white sweater he had worn on the day of his disappearance was lying on the floor of the van. The day after it was found, (2)one of his three roommates called Reed's parents and recommended they file a missing persons report. That roommate was subsequently arrested on unrelated cocaine charges.
Reed was a low-level drug dealer at the time of his disappearance, (3)selling cocaine. The police were aware of his activities and were preparing to arrest him. Authorities believe he could have been killed over drugs or money.
His family stated he was devoted to his mother and (4)tried to hide his lifestyle from her, as she disapproved of drugs. His mother noted that although Reed's apartment had been very messy, after his disappearance (5)his roommates thoroughly cleaned it and removed some items”
(1) Why the jail??? Coincidence? Wonder if anyone of interest was released or booked in those couple of days...
(2) They couldn’t pick up a phone and call themselves?
(3) I’ve learned that drug addicts who snort cocaine often have very long pinkie-fingernails, and the wording on the “nail description” makes me wonder if he had “Morton’s Toe” and possibly finger nail(s) that were long and sharpened to a point...
(4) He hid his lifestyle from grandmother and who knows who reported him missing... makes me think it’s possible some things were not known or inadvertently left out of the report. (Like the brand of boots)
(5) Again, with the roommates?! It seems like even if he were involved in drug activity, he was taken advantage of.

I hadn’t realized how close OH and KY were until I started looking at these KY cases. IMO, this is one to submit, or at least research a little further

Responding to this 2010 post to say that Robert Breau has been officially added to Doe Network's list of 2024 Closed Cases. It states, "case closed per LE."
This John Doe's NamUs is still up, which doesn't mean that this is not him, but Robert Breau is not listed as a rule-out as of today.
