Per NamUS, Laura Louise Smith Williams is not in the ro list

Shall I resubmit to the NamUS case manager?

ETA: only 2 UID ro and Nancy Doe is not one of them

Ok, I did submit again Laura Louise Smith Williams as a potential match both to the KY ME & the NamUS regional responsible.

Now, it's wait and see!

Got the answer from KY ME this afternoon.

Good afternoon from Kentucky!

Thank you so much for your interest and inquiry on these cases. Laura Louise Smith Williams has been excluded, today, based on dental comparison. Fortunately, we had enough records on both UP and MP to make the exclusion.

We appreciate your efforts and look forward to hearing from you again!

So, she was ro today Oo

Very good that you got a response so quickly! That’s a huge relief, knowing someone associated with the case is receptive to our submissions!

I’ve been looking at Rose Mary West... There’s so little about her case though  and she’s a couple of years over the estimated age of this UID. A little taller... but I see a bit of a resemblance and the time frame and circumstances seem to match up...

The funny thing I found is that Laura was ro the day I submitted her Oo

If you read the email I quoted, it says that she was ro "today".

Also, IMO, the fact that I live on another continent separated by Atlantic Ocean might have helped. It's only my opinion, that's it!
So, do not take my paragraph as gospel, please!

ETA: sent ME's reply to NamUS contact for our UID.
FWIW, it can let them know through the officers that a specific MP was ro and it's an official answer from the ME or LEO in charge. Maybe it'll help them updating their RO lists?
@CarlK90245 what's your opinion?

Before making any decision, would you please find old newspapers articles about her being missing?

Because before sending, I want to be sure she did or did not have a pathology limiting her mobility. Because if she didn't have any medical condition limiting her mobility, it's a blatant rule-out IMO.

ETA: I'll contact LEO for Rose's case to inquire more about whetheter a medical condition was listed. Because if she was as healthy as a horse, IMO, it's a blatant rule-out !
If the only med she takes is a Tylenol once in a bluemoon, it can not be a match!

Oh yes! Most times when I post a suggestion here, it’s because I’ve done just enough research so far to make me think it’s possible. Sometimes I’ve hit a brick wall and other times I’ve focused so intently on one particular person that I have to force myself to step away for a bit. Either way, Ive grown to respect and appreciate the opinions of many other WSs, so it’s always nice to get feedback!

It actually takes quite a bit to make me comfortable enough to contact an agency about one of the cases. There are a few times I’ve felt extremely confident and contacted LE/ME regardless of what others thought lol. But those times were usually because I found something that seemed relevant to a case that involved or could potentially involve an aspect of the case beyond the identification of the UID or MP; the subsequent investigation.

So, I guess to answer your question, yes I will look for other information on Rose Mary West. It was difficult when I first entered her name in to search because apparently there is another woman with a similar name who seems to be a very frequently researched topic. I’m not sure about the details but I know it was hard to find anything pertaining to someone besides her! ;)

I appreciate your thoughts and feedback and even more so, your willingness to help with these cases! It’s good to have passionate and concerned fellow sleuths to work with! :)

Thank you

Before submitting, we need to know if she has health issues consistant with the UID.
It would not make sense submitting a MP whom only issue is wearing glasses and takes Tylenol once in a blue moon while our UID has mobility issues.

My opinion is that your suggestion can work, as long as we can know about any health issue.
It's the only way to know if it can work or if it's a blatant rule-out.
We can not stay in such limbo wondering if we submit or not.

The devil hides in the details!

I'd love to enquire to LE about your possible match, but phone is very problematic for me.

Also, even if not relevant to the investigation by itself, submitting a potential match is a start. Because it actually helps the investigation.

How do you eat an elephant? Bite after bite.

So, an information limited to ID can be crucial to jump-start an investigation.

Also, you made enough research, but the amount is not all.

You can have very few info, but a small detail changes everything.

Age estimation can be off, heigh can be off, and recons are often off.
Matches have been found with more than 10 years age difference, mind you!

For Rose, my opinion is "could be, but it worth submitting only if we get more details about her health".
This info makes or break your suggestion.

Tried to call LE. Communication was cut short and I have an amount of work that I have 00 time spending on hold & being cut short. Ugh!

If you feel like calling them, go for it!

Just spoke to the detective who reviewed Marie Rose West's file.

No medical condition has been listed in her file.

I strongly doubt it's a match because her mobility was not impaired. For me, this inconsistency is a RO.

I strongly doubt it's a match because her mobility was not impaired. For me, this inconsistency is a RO.

Two possible complications:

1. Depending on how badly the condition impacted her life, the decedent might not have been aware she had a general mobility issue. She might have just thought she had weak wrists.

2. Even if the missing person had issues and was aware of them as a medical condition, the person making the missing persons report might not have known about it if it wasn't something that they talked about or made public.

I agree it makes Marie Rose West much less likely, but I don't see it as a complete rollout if everything else matches.

I agree with everything minus "she was not aware nor the family".
Because even without a medical diagnosis, the MP and family certainely noticed the reduced mobility, that something was not right.

It doesn't mean they had a diagnosis, nor a treatment. But not noticing a reduced mobility in her joints, euh, m'enfin!

I found another good possibility (IMO) ...

Anna Lee Manning

- Danville/Junction City, Kentucky (Nancy)
- November 19, 1992 (July 1995 - PMI: 0-4 years)
- 23 years old (24 - 45)
- 5’0” (5’1” - 5’3”)
- 108 lbs. (unknown)
- Red/auburn hair (short, medium brown)
- scar on right pinkie & red spot on back of head
- last seen wearing blue jeans, shirt/blouse & tennis shoes (blue jean skirt, remnants of red shirt & white tennis shoes)
- bizarre circumstances (per The Charley Project)
Anna was last seen in Danville, Kentucky on November 19, 1992. She called out to her aunt on north Third Street in front of Chin's Jewelry and said she wanted to talk to her about something. She was accompanied by an unidentified Caucasian male at the time.

Anna was supposed to visit her aunt later that day, but she never arrived and has never been heard from again. She left behind a two-year-old daughter. Her family didn't report her missing until February 25, 1994, well over a year after the last time they saw her.

Anna married Anthony B. Manning in 1985, at the age of sixteen. Following her marriage she and her husband distanced themselves from Anna's family, to the extent that her aunt, who had raised her since she was thirteen, didn't know where she lived at the time of her disappearance. By 1992 the couple had separated.

In April of that year, Anthony was charged with kidnapping after he allegedly went to her apartment in Junction City, Kentucky with their daughter, handcuffed Anna and lead her out the back door after she refused to have sexual intercourse with him. Anna was able to escape when Anthony went to take her purse and the child to the car.

Anthony pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment and was sentenced to 182 days in jail. He was still in jail when Anna disappeared; he was released a few months later.

Anna's aunt doesn't believe she would have left without telling anyone. Because of the lack of time that has passed without contact, authorities believe she was a victim of foul play. Her case remains unsolved.
