Six days after he was charged with the murder of 12-year-old Ray Etheridge, Joseph Cambron tried to kill himself in jail, officials say. Cambron, 21, is now on 24-hour suicide watch in the Metro Corrections medical unit...

On Oct. 8, an officer making a routine security check found the window to Cambron's single, private cell covered with toilet paper, said Major Endora Davis. Hearing no response, the officer entered the cell to find a towel wrapped around Cambron's neck.

He was unharmed, Davis said, and was then moved to more heavily monitored single cell in the medical unit.

Surveillance video was placed in the case file of the Mid-City Mall where Cambron and Ray-Ray were prior to going to Tyler Park and then to Cambron's campsite in Cherokee Park.

Eventually Cambron told detectives he stabbed the boy, but only after Ray-Ray hit him in the jaw and stole his wallet.

"Chased after him and stabbed him in the back. He fell down. I fell on top of him. He still tried to fight me," Cambron said in the police interview. Cambron said that's when he stabbed Ray-Ray again with a paring knife he bought at a Dollar General Store.

This Cambron character sounds like a budding serial killer. Glad he's been removed him from society.
