LA - ***ARREST*** Mickey Shunick, 21, Lafayette, 19 May 2012 #40

Judge Clause was in the small courtroom with Lavergne, his defense attorneys and the prosecuting attorneys. Mickey Shunick's family watched via video from the parish courthouse across the street. I was in the courthouse watching on video with the family. I couldn't see his hands or anything good enough to see wounds or scars, unfortunately! The news media got the major runaround from the jailers and courthouse personnel. We almost missed the arraignment. The jailers wouldn't let us in the courtroom where Lavergne was and the courthouse people wouldn't let us in the video room with the family! I've never seen anything like it!!!

Were any of his family members there that you know of?

What happened to thread #39? I was a few pages from the end and got the error msg that thread was not available or something like that. I don't see a link for it either, skips from thread 38 to 40. Am I missing something??

i know.. sad i didn't get to catch up :(

Where then do you think he was planning on keeping her for a few days?

kkdj, very difficult to say whether BSL would utilize his home as a safe haven. More than likely it will be a barn, shed, of other abandoned structure/old homeplace, in a primitive forested area, imo.

BSL, has many traits of both organized & disorganized serial killers. He was all over the place. This is why, imo, he was an emulator of others prior..

BS Lavergne was an everywhere man and a nowhere man...

My sis, who is former LE says she believes he intended to keep her at his home, and may have done just that...

Perhaps that the reason for all the "evidence" that linked him to the crime and gives LE the thought that she is "gone".

JMO.

Maybe true but I just have a hard time with that theory since he was in an active relationship and had familty that lived close by that could have sprung in on him at any moment.

It poofed

Spent 6 hours today getting my PC cleaned up by tech support; locked up.. Then tried to come to this thread and catch up. Couldn't find it.. Blamed the technician.. guess, at least I have an allibi and wasn't involved..LOL

I do not think he was really considering anything but his own selfish choices/needs. He evidently attacked two other women in the past while he was making plans to marry another. He truly believed he would not get caught, or he would not have done this to begin with. After all, he got away with LP- and probably more.

I just realized that perhaps the pending marriage itself is a trigger. He was planning to marry again right before abducting MS.

I had seen pics posted somewhere of the inside of his house and it appeared immaculate. Just wondering what kind of condition it was in when the LE went in to it.

Thread #39 is temporarily closed for mod review.

I don't think he ever intended to bring Mickey to his home, or did so. He wanted to contain the evidence to one place and he probably never thought he would have to destroy his truck, but things went wrong. I think he kept his "private" activities very separate from his life with GF etc...after all, he was trying to get his status changed, claimed he was wrongly accused, a victim, etc...I don't believe he would bring a victim to his home where he could possibly get caught.

Even if his attack that particular night was an impulse, I think he would have settled down enough after the initial violence to know that he had to leave Mickey someplace that could not be connected to him. But he may still have taken something from her to add to his secret stash of kinky trophies, never expecting his home would be the focus of a search.

I think in Mickey's situation his MO no longer applies.
She (may) have thrown a spoke in the wheels.

At the time he got injured whatever plan
he had flew out the window.
He headed for home.
He was injured. He needed medical assistance.
I think he went into safe mode and then he needed to distance himself.
He could have
1. Left in his truck parked inside a garage at a friends and have a friend drive him to NOLA.
2. put her in a well (are there wells in La?)
3. An old rotting barn or a condemned building.
Somewhere he had personal knowledge of, but NOT "near" his property

4. In a 55 gal drum inside a storage facility.

I disagree that Pate was "hidden"

"Pate’s remains were discovered Sept. 21, 1999, under some boards behind a home."

Had he buried her on the property she might have never been found. IMO he didn't care if she was found. He put her there to implicate the people who lived there at the time of her disappearance.

I would expect the same from him this time as well,
EXCEPT for the fact that he had to seek treatment for his wounds.

This time he does NOT want her found.
There is really no way out of this one.

My mind may change if he is charged with any additional murders.

As it stands now we only have Pate to go on...

Oh, well thank the gods that the violent felon/accused double-murderer was safe. :waitasec:

You would think there would be some police available to do security. After all, the courthouse is next to the Sheriff's Department and Jail.

Seems more like a matter of convience.

I'm trying to respond to Foxfire's quote on post 45---dadgum ya'll I ain't figured this out yet!!

IMO, sometimes the "skanks" do keep them longer. In my own experience with my daughter she was held for 8+ months, before being 'rescued'. IMHO BSL didn't expect the Mighty Mickey to get him. I pray for her and her family everyday and will continue to do so. Also, that the small part of humanity that he is, BSL, will reveal where she is when he's afraid of losing his life, although, IMO also, he won't.
