Police work to trace Cape Coral woman's suspicious disappearance

A man talking to police didn’t want to be interviewed on the record but stated that the day before (June 18), Lauren asked him about available apartments, saying she “wanted to get out of the situation she was in.”

He said he again saw her the next day, on June 19, around 8 a.m. and waved at her as she was walking along the route from the park to her apartment.

Community pitches in to help find missing Cape Coral mother

Wednesday marks two months since Cape Coral mother Lauren Dumolo went missing. Now, thanks to a kindhearted donor, there’s an $8,000 reward in exchange for information on he whereabouts.

For Lauren Dumolo’s family, the past two months have been hard. “Not knowing is horrible,” said Paul Dumolo, Lauren’s Father.

See Lauren’s father and the rest of her family plead for her safe return has inspired many. The community has organized search parties and held vigils. Now, one small business owner has decided to pledge $5,000 in addition to the $3,000 offered by Crimestoppers.

James Edgar, owner of Sand Dollar Shelling was touched by the Dumolo family’s story.

“I have three kids and I have a daughter around her age and I just couldn’t imagine the pain and suffering that the family is going through,” Edgar said. “Our main intention was really to get other people to jump on the bandwagon and escalate that reward figure.”

Edgar’s idea of getting other people involved might just be working. Danielle Langevin is organizing an event called ‘We Ride for Lauren’ to raise money for the reward as well.

“There will be food, a silent auction, raffles so it’s going to be a really nice time, and the hope is that we are able to raise more money, keep her story out there,” Langevin said.

Those who volunteer for search parties and Lauren’s family hope that more money will lead to more answers to the question of Dumolo’s disappearance.

“We always hope that people will come forward and share information because it’s the right thing to do but at the end of the day we know that sometimes money talks,” said Trish Routte with Southwest Florida Crimestoppers.

As for Lauren’s father, he still hopes every day that she’s alive and safe. “I’ll never give up hope that she’s alive somewhere until I know otherwise,” said Paul Dumolo.

Marc Hoover: Missing woman in Florida: What happened to Lauren Dumolo? | The Clermont Sun

From article:
I received a message from a concerned Florida woman who I will call Jane. She said a young mother named Lauren Dumolo had disappeared from Cape Coral, Florida. She asked if I would help share Lauren’s story.

This story begins on Father’s Day of 2020.
Paul Dumolo looked forward to receiving a call from his daughter Lauren. That call never came.
...
He has since told the Cape Coral media that he believes Lauren is deceased. He thinks someone possibly abducted and killed her. Although he fears the worst, he hasn’t taken any time to cry because he must find his daughter.

She had recently lost her job because of the coronavirus. She can be seen on video visiting different locations for a new job. So far, it’s the only video footage capturing Lauren before she disappeared.

Gabriel Pena, Lauren’s boyfriend, is one of the last people to have seen Lauren. He claimed she was home when he went to work before 6 a.m. on June 19th. Pena said he took a lie detector test and doesn’t know what happened to Lauren.

Lauren’s purse was found at a nearby park. After her purse was found, someone recovered Lauren’s shirt buried in sand.

The Cape Coral Police Department is handling Lauren’s disappearance. Detective Nick Jones is heading up the investigation.

Family of missing Cape Coral woman hiring private investigator

Her cellphone left at her apartment and her purse found in a park she often went to meditate are the last clues Lauren Dumolo left behind for her family.

After pleas from the family to bring in outside agencies, such as Lee County Sheriff's Office and the FBI, to help, Paul Dumolo, Lauren Dumolo's father, is hiring a private investigator.

'Everyday I think about her,' Lauren Dumolo's sister says as month six of her missing approaches
From the article:
Cape Coral Police have been investigating since her disappeared. They have leads, but no new updates.

Cape Coral Police also attended the event to show the family support, including detectives Nick Jones and Nick Malone who have been working on Dumolo's case.

Malone said as an investigator they don't want to get too emotionally attached to the family so that doesn't affect the investigation, but they wanted to have a presence and show the family they are humans and care as well.

Victim Assistance Coordinator with Cape Coral Police Department Christine Seymour will be working with the family moving forward. She was introduced to the family initially and met them for the first time at Saturday's event.

Before the walk began, Cape Coral Police Chaplain Donald Neace said a prayer to guide the minds and hearts of those working Dumolo's case to find her.

  • Medical Conditions: In the days before Dumolo disappeared, she was involuntarily hospitalized twice because she was hearing voices and believed people were after her. She was released from the hospital the last time on June 18, the day before she went missing. She had no prior history of mental health problems, but her sister thinks her issues may have been caused by emotional trauma due to a recent abortion.
  • Distinguishing Characteristics: White female. Blonde hair, brown eyes. Dumolo has several tattoos, including the word "Namaste" in black ink down her side, the letters "NY" in her pelvic area, an Om symbol on the inside of her wrist, rosary beads on her ankle. Photos of some of her tattoos are posted with this case summary. Her ears and nose are pierced. Her hair is naturally light brown and was dyed blonde at the time of her disappearance, with darker roots showing.

Details of Disappearance
Dumolo was last seen at her residence in the 4900 block of Coronado Parkway in Cape Coral, Florida on June 19, 2020. Her boyfriend, Gabriel Pena, saw her before he went to work at around 6:00 a.m.

Dumolo, or someone using her phone, made a Facebook Video call to Pena's phone between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., but he didn't answer.

This is the last sign of her.

She left her cellular phone behind at the apartment and has never been heard from again.

That same day, her purse was found at Four Freedoms Park in the 4800 block of Tarpon Court, where she often went to meditate. She didn't have a car or driver's license, but the park was just a six-minute walk from her apartment.

On July 2, Dumolo's shirt was found by the waterline at the park. The park had been previously searched multiple times and the shirt had not been seen then; it's possible it was planted there.

Dumolo is considered an endangered missing person. Prior to her disappearance, she had filled out multiple job applications and paid her rent in full, which would not make sense if she were planning to leave.

She left behind a young daughter, who was not living with her at the time of her disappearance.

Her case remains unsolved.

Lauren Dumolo's father says dental records have been found
The next day, a dentist in Perryville, Maryland, where she lived there when she was 18, said he had her records, according to Paul Dumolo, Lauren’s father.
Dumolo’s father said investigators told him it could take approximately a week to get records and confirm the identity.

“Anxious and scared in a way,” he said. “If it’s Lauren then we get closure. If it’s not, then we got our hopes up and have to keep pushing through. Either way, it’s hard.”

The remains found in Cape Coral are not those of missing Cape Coral mom Lauren Dumolo.

The Cape Coral Police Department says dental records have confirmed that the human remains located in North Fort Myers belong to 36-year-old Briana Tennant.

Tennant's family has been notified, and confirmed they hadn’t communicated with her in months, and never reported her as missing.

This investigation remains active.

On February 28th, 2021, almost a year after her disappearance, a kayaker was exploring a canal in Burnt Store Marina and came across a human skull. The discovery led to an immediate search of the area, and over the next few days, additional skeletal remains and clothing were found. It didn’t take long for the authorities to confirm that the remains belonged to Lauren Dumolo, the missing woman from Cape Coral.
