Lyons' talk of 'Mitigation'

Ah, but we were talking about LifeWithOutParole. If she gets LWOP, there's no chance of parole in Florida. Unlike some other states where LWOP means 10-25 years, Florida is serious.

I apologize if my meaning didn't come across. That is what I was saying, that just Life might get you out in a few years but LWOP would keep you in, "stuck." When I said "I believe you are not" I was refering to where she had said "Unless I am wrong." I should I have bolded it so I wouldn't confuse anyone. I was saying I believe she is not wrong and as long as they add the "Without Parole" part KC will rot there forever, which would please me to no end.

I shall uncross my eyes! We are kindred spirits in this matter. I want her to go out feet-first in a pine box, period. I don't really care if it's sooner or later.

......... unless we could petition Florida to go for execution by duct tape. For this *speshul* occasion.

(Once again, I would love to get that siggy put on a t-shirt of or a bumper sticker)

*snipped to point*

Check it out...perfectly suitable for bumper stickers and t-shirts. Maybe we can get musikman one so he can attend the trial in style. :D

Cindy may not let it fly willingly, even after AL explains to her that it needs to be done and that she has to take one for the team. A good mitigation specialist will give her a little push. If she doesn't agree to it, AL or her mitigation specialist will just go ahead and tell people how she is and will paint the picture even if Cindy says she won't go along. The family getting along would be nice, but it not absolutely necessary. Sometimes it works in the clients favor for the family NOT to be loving. Depends on the case and the circumstances. I don't think, with all the video out there it will be hard to prove the dysfunction in this family. AL and/or her mitigation specialist will try to get everyone on the same page, but if it can't be done that way, she will take whatever route she has to.

Here, I've been looking forward to KC's murder trial, and now I think that I will enjoy the mitigation (death penalty) portion even more!

Before you go, offer to take that baby off her hands. Please.

She doesn't have the baby...thank god...she's in foster care with Childrens Aid investigating. Her Dad, in his ignorance of child welfare laws, has unknowingly spilled the beans...ranted to the worker demanding joint custody because his daughter is irresponsible, has been in abusive relationships, associates with gangs and is a compulsive liar and thief. He actually told CAS that not thinking it may affect her chances at custody! (he has no idea how horrible all of that is...so strange...) He also said he works all the time and can only offer a roof but that the worker should pop in unannounced to be on the safe side!...I have only been in this relationship for 5 years and I'm leaving, can you see why??? <crazy>...I spoke with my cousin who works for cas...I feel reassured. A court date is set for 3 weeks from now...I'm watching. I've done all I can safely do, at this point. People are aware.

I hope you have a safe place to go to escape this situation. We're pulling for you. Stay strong and stay safe!

What are the over-arching social consequence of AL enlightening us with the mitigating circumstances in filicide? If AL is able to greatly reduce KC's penalty, will more women feel they can "act-out" without serious consequence? Florida (and other states, but we are dealing in Florida here) may have a lot to gain from a stronger policy of deterence-murdered and kidnapped children from Florida dominate the news every year.
I hope the jurors there grow very tired of the excuses and send a strong message.

The jury will be death penalty certified so I see the mitigating circumstances
having little chance of success. KC picked the wrong state to commit murder.

It will be hard to tell if she will be the cause of KC not getting the DP. Cause even though Florida has it, it's rare a woman get's it.

That if found guilty, that she would only stand a slight chance of getting the DP. So I say it's sorta expected that KC will NOT get the DP.

For AL, it looks like an easy win. She had a slim chance of loosing before she even started this case.

I believe that you are not. If she is just sentenced to Life, if they still have parole in FL then she could get out in 20 maybe 25 years or so if she is a good girl, but if you are sentenced to life without parole you are stuck.

That is good to know. I"m not really for the DP, because of the past, known mistakes. I think living with it, would be harder. Being stuck in jail, would be harder.

However, I'm even more against folks that would have gotten DP, but got Life, end up walking the streets. Even LWOP, ending up walking the streets. IT seems to me, that if your case is DP eligible, then you should NEVER see the out side again. It's the possibility of them getting out, that makes me still very much for DP.

I"m glad to know that in Florida, LWOP means exactly what it says.

BRINI . . RESPECTFULLY SNIPPED BBM
So, they all have to get together and meet to fake up a REALLY nasty and damaging home situation that "might" engender a little sympathy. And, everybody has to tell the same story, and swear to it.

Wouldn't it be, that they can avoid & get around this just by meeting with the Ants, minus Casey, decide on a conceivable story ( stories), then relate it back to the prisoner, until they come up with some kind of homogenized, agreed upon fabrication??
That would avoid the camera, etc. I can't imagine that they already have not been doing it. Also can't imagine what a nightmare it is for the "A" -team, because there are so many convoluted stories out there to cover the lies, and not a one of them makes sense ............alas too bad:woohoo:

31 Days, Duct tape, DNA, fingerprints, Decomp, lies everywhere . . .

Oh you don't know the half of it! Coming from the standpoint of someone who has seen mitigation is cases where there were real mitigating circumstances (I doubt KC has real ones) I would be hard pressed to feel the least bit of sympathy for her at all and am actually looking forward to mitigation. This case has tested my beliefs on many occassions. I fear the little devil on my shoulder is going to allow me to enjoy even, every moment and every "mitigating circumstance" this girl offers up.
