Can an “egg” be caused by a fight?Nuttall: it could be caused by a golf ball.Jackson asks if it’s an injury consistent with a fight.Jackson asks about his testimony that he heard #KarenRead say “I hit him. I hit him”.Asking about his position knelt down over body.

Norfolk Assistant District Attorney Adam Lally outlined the Commonwealth's case, saying that Read even said, "I hit him, I hit him, I hit him," in the hours after O'Keefe's death. He indicated that jurors will hear from some of the people who were inside the house where O'Keefe was found and from investigators involved with the case.

"Karen Read was framed," defense attorney David Yannetti said in his opening. "Her car never struck John O'Keefe, she did not cause his death, and that means someone else did."

He argued that the lead investigator on the case, Massachusetts State Police Trooper Michael Proctor, had "deep ties" to the Albert family, the owners of the home outside which O'Keefe's body was found, and that the investigation into O'Keefe's death was not conducted properly.

"Michael Proctor never stepped foot inside the Albert home on Jan. 29 of 2022, never checked out whether there were any signs of struggle inside that home, never called for crime scene technicians and other specialists to look out for blood or other trace evidence in the home. He never asked Brian Albert for permission to go inside the home... never applied for a search warrant to go in that home. Instead, he focused immediately and exclusively on Karen Read, the outsider."

And worst of all, I always respected American justice for its strong support of presumption of innocence.

Proctor comes in with a preformed opinion about KR. She is probably still drunk and her mental state is questionable, but he does everything to prove her guilt, he shows cronyism, he doesn’t even enter the house, he treats her like she has already been convicted. About nudes - I think this is, sadly, what he is, and if he ever posted a dating profile on Tinder or elsewhere, I think I know how it would look like, but there are many immature, unreasonable people around. What’s there to expect?

JACKSON - were those consistent or inconsistent being in a fight. Jackson says "I couldn't say" There's quite a few reasons people could get hit by an egg - could get hit by a golf ball.

Jackson asks about Karen's statement to him :I hit him, I hit him." Nuttall admits he apparently told a sligjtly different story to the grand jury or to trooper proctor, indicating he heard Karen say that to another woman who told Karen to be quiet.

Jackson asks about discussing the case & his ability to remember the incidents. Nuttall maintains it hasn’t.Jackson asks if his memory of the events of the night is as good as his memory of the coat.Nuttall yes.Note the pictures Nuttall was shown were not of a big coat.

Lally up again. Reasks a couple of questions to establish Nuttall’s testimony.Nuttall is done.Prosecution calls Canton firefighter Anthony Flematti.Lally asking questions establishing qualifications, training, and staffing/equipment, locations of stations, shifts.

What observations did you make? O’Keefe was dressed for the weather. They were concentrating on getting him out of the weather. Other firefighters were concentrating on extraction. What did you observe the 3 females on the scene doing! The group was quite agitated. Nuttall testifies lighting was better inside ambulance, they continued CPR, removed clothing, winter jacket, sweatshirt, all clothing was removed, which is protocol.
This seems pretty substantial right? This is the first mention of a winter jacket anywhere. All previous reports just mention a hoodie and the surveillance film that is public shows him without a jacket at the bar.

"He was wearing two shirts, blue jeans, socks and one black Nike sneaker." - from the initial reports the day they found his body

FF Nuttall said that's what he heard at the scene when Jackson asks about his previous testimony that KR said she hit JO

Jackson says FF Nuttall provided a different version of what Read said when Trooper Proctor interviewed him.FF Nuttall says he doesn't "fully recall" what he discussed with Proctor

FF Nuttall tells Jackson he did not tell doctors at the hospital about what he says KR said at the scene about hitting JO. FF Nuttall says he didn't immediately report it police either

Watching Daybell trial but court is dark today (as previously mentioned). Been following this case for at least a year, so glad to get to see some of it! Going forward I will watch the Daybell trial on my computer and keep up with this trial during breaks via Court TV.

Still early going, but too many questions in the prosecutor case for me to believe she deliberately hit him and left him to die.

Onto witness Flematti...

@SueNBCBoston

Flematti answering with detail & confidence, much like Nuttall. Jurors paying attention even though this part of testimony is similar to Nuttall’s.Lally asking about the weather.Flematti confirms a storm was coming.

Lally asks where everyone was in the ambulance.Flematti was in passenger side.Lally asks about driving conditions, if the sun was up.Flematti answers bad driving conditions, dark.

Lally asking Flematti, like he asked Nuttall, about the importance of shoveling the station. Flematti answers with the same detail.Lally asks about…the weather.Flematti answers snow, cold, 20s, gusts of wind.

was the other sneaker ever found? seems strange if not

i haven't read the whole thread/all the coverage, hope it's ok if i ask a couple questions that are probably common knowledge :)

what was the victim wearing when his body was found?

In today's testimony, the EMT mentioned a heavy jacket but it's likely he was mistaken. Everything else I've heard says that JO was only wearing a cotton hoodie. You can see him wearing it in this video taken earlier that night.

Also, one of JO's sneakers was missing at the scene and has never been found.

There's sure to be more about JO's clothing in the trial.

and when was the albert house listed for sale? after the incident or prior?
They listed their house about 10 months after JO died.

“Wicked Funny” — Everyone sitting in the courtroom for the Karen Read trial erupted in laughter when her attorney couldn’t understand the Canton paramedic who was testifying due to his thick, Boston accent.

This is also not professional and minus for Yanotti.
We have people with accents, with articulation problems, with stuttering. The defence is "reasonable doubt"-based, not reducing to personal attacks.

I must have missed it, what personal attack? Everyone was laughing because he did not understand the Boston accent.
