I am just catching up to the thread.

:tyou: zwiebel, ZaZara, SouthAussie, Donamena, and everyone else who has posted since 17 July 2014.

:grouphug:

I am lighting a candle myself.....

I pray for the safety of the officials. I have deep concerns for what they will encounter, in every sense. They represent their respective countries, and the world, IMO. Their effort towards truth and justice for the victims and their families is one that will never be forgotten.

:praying:

I hope someone will come and pick her up :heartbeat: Heartbreaking.

I wish that photo could be on the first page of every newspaper.

I've been cut off from my radio, but just got it back on and heard the news that Australian and Dutch investigators have reached the site. Thank heavens.

I believe I heard visiting police will permitted arms to ensure safety too?

Hoping those brave people stepping in are kept safe from any more ' mistakes "

That little stuffed bunny rabbit was so beautiful in contrast to the horror, it broke my heart, and yet, was oddly uplifting... imo.

RTL-Nieuws reports:

Translation:

The repatriation team in Ukraine has received DNA samples and belongings of the victims that were stored in the morgue in Donetsk
.

The Head of Mission, Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, has announced this. What exactly is meant by DNA samples is unknown, but alledgedly it does not concern bodies or body parts.

The DNA and the personal belongings of 27 victims have been transferred to the Dutch and Australian experts in the region. It is not known what these are either.

The experts want to bring the material as quickly as possible to Kharkov, where a first forensic check will be done. After that, the DNA and belongings will be brought to The Netherlands as soon as possible.

RUSSIA AND UKRAINE WILL ENSURE ROAD ACCES TO CRASH SITE

RTL-Nieuws reports:
http://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/binnenland/route-naar-rampplek-blijft-open

Russia and Ukraine will ensure that the route that the OSCE has used to arrive at the crash site today, will remain open. This was agreed by both countries agreed during talks in Minsk, Belarus, Ukraine says.

The investigators of OSCE today finally managed reach the location of the wreckage of the downed Boeing. The area is controlled by pro-Russian separatists. They are fighting against the Ukrainian army.

The mission of the OSCE went well today, Deputy Head of Mission Alexander Hug said. "It was a successful day. We have reached the disaster area without any incident." The return to Donetsk was also accomplished without problems.

It is seen as an important step that the crash site has been reached. Dutch and Australian experts arrived in the area. On their next visit to the crash site, the experts hope to start the search for remains and personal belongings of the victims as quickly as possible.

DUTCH ARE NOT AWARE OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN RUSSIA AND UKRAINE

RTL-Nieuws reports:
http://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nieuws/binnenland/nederland-weet-niet-van-open-route-naar-rampplek

Ukraine says that the country has agreed with Russia that the route between Donetsk and the crash site remains open for investigators. However, the head of the Dutch mission is not aware of any agreement.

This is remarkable, because the OSCE attended the talks between Russia and Ukraine in Minsk, Belarus.

The security situation around the crash site is still very unstable. Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg, head of the Dutch mission therefore has his doubts that the investigators will be able travel to the area without problems in the coming days. "We have no absolutely no guarantees that we will succeed in reaching the crash site with the entire team on the short term."
However, Aalbersberg has better hopes than yesterday, when the mission stranded due to fighting.

I wonder if these were the bodies mentioned in the CNN report, that the Russian backed rebels removed from the crash site? It showed the empty stretchers used to move them to the transport, but said it isn't known where they were taken.

It would be very barbaric if the bodies were taken to the morgue and then moved again, leaving only blood DNA samples behind. :(

I just thought - those DNA samples left behind on the stretchers might be the only chance of finding out who those now missing people were.

Bullet Holes?! Machine gun fire!? How on earth does he think they got high enough to hit the plane??

Surely he meant shrapnel?

ETA: Take that silly twitter I just linked with a large pinch of salt -that OSCE monitor it mentions isn't even at the site, he's a talking head giving an interview to a journalist!

In the video, he says: It ALMOST looks like machine gun fire.
Not quite the same :)

Can one of you tech kiddos post the daily mail link about Germany & Russia brokering a $1 billion dollar deal for Crimea in exchange for letting go of the Ukraine? Do I understand this barter correctly?
