Can anyone tell me why Twitter is considered a reliable source ?
I am confused why Twitter is allowed here on WS as reliable ...
but Facebook is not allowed here because it is considered unreliable ?
Aren't both mediums susceptible to the SAME biased opinions or incorrect info ?
I don't use Twitter because I don't think one liners have enough facts in them ...
but I also don't use Facebook because I don't have the patience to weed through
so much meaningless info to get to the few gems.

Could this entire tragedy be the result of a mistake?

" Senior U.S. intelligence officials said they have no evidence so far of direct Russian government involvement in the shooting down of the jumbo jet, which investigators believe was destroyed by a missile fired by separatists. The officials, who briefed reporters on condition of anonymity, said the most likely explanation was that the plane was shot down by mistake."

Twitter is considered reliable if the account is associated with msm (mainstream media, eg. a reporter or journalist). That's what can be put in here.

And yes, all media is subject to varying degrees of bias--but supposedly that's informed bias. ;)

I absolutely think it was a mistake. I don't think it was done on purpose. It was a stupid senseless case of stupidity. Never should have pushed the button. jmo

If one of my loved ones was a victim and I knew joe blow rebels did their autopsy I would be suicidal!

My mind spins with this information. They aren't experts on anything so they have been saying, but apparently they're qualified to perform autopsies? It's hard to make sense of it all.

This VICE News video has over 2.5 million views. It was posted on 18 July 2014, and contains footage documenting the crash site in several areas immediately following the downing of #MH17. I followed retweets to the source in order to bring it to the thread.

The reporter is on scene. The footage is beyond graphic. It paints a picture I will never, EVER forget. I almost wish I could unsee it, but the harsh reality of what happened can never be erased, from our history, nor our collective conscience. :moo:

I don't think most people are accusing the rebels of intentionally shooting down a passenger plane.
Most people do believe that they thought it was a military plane, like the others they had shot down.

All the evidence I have seen support that. The audio, social media and the videos posted do.
They thought it was military and freaked when they realized it was civilian. :twocents:

I'm referring to the bolded part of text quoted which clearly states "Russian Invasion"

http://nieuwsuur.nl/video/677013-anne-applebaum-legt-schuld-bij-poetin.html

"Some months ago the Russians invaded Eastern Ukraine.
They did this in a very unorthodox manner. They didn't send their tanks, they didn't send big weapons."

It's the first thing Anne says when she starts talking at 15 seconds in this video. :twocents:

Happy to see that we will fly our loved ones' families to the Netherlands to accompany their loved ones back to Australia, when the time is right, if the families want to do so.

Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove will be present for the arrival of both the Dutch and the Australian aircraft.

"Once the Australian victims of MH17 have been identified, the Government will transport their families to the Netherlands, should they wish, so they can accompany their loved ones home," the statement read.

A GROUND steward at Amsterdam airport who reportedly checked-in all the passengers on flight MH17 has shared her final farewells with the crew and passengers.

"Passengers on their way for business, on their way home, on their way to family, on their way to their holiday destination, on their way to a new beginning …

Groups travelling, families, couples, singles, babies, children, granddads, grandmums, fathers, sons, daughters, partners, uncles, aunties, colleagues.

I have seen and talked to them last, and wished them a good journey, those passengers of flight MH017 at the 17th of July 2014.

A last smile, a last goodbye, a happy face.

Rest in Peace sweet passengers and crew."

INTERNATIONAL monitors have warned that body parts still lie scattered at eastern Ukraine’s unsecured crash site of downed flight MH17, as Dutch experts say they were given 80 fewer corpses than promised by the rebels.

“We are sure of having 200 bodies and body parts, that is all that I know,” said Jan Tuinder, the head of the Dutch delegation told journalists.

Fifteen monitors from the European security body visited the site for a fifth day yesterday, accompanied for the first time by a senior official from Malaysian Airlines and by two Malaysian civil aviation experts.

“There was no security perimeter. We also noticed that the vast amount of personal belongings of passengers has been removed from the scene,” he added.

“The Malaysian experts observed that the heat from the impact was so intense that it melted the wings,” which were made of aluminium, he said.

My apologies if this has already been posted. I woke up from a nightmare and went to twitter, and am posting without catching up.
