Babysitter Admits to Killing Former Hagerstown Girl in Indiana

On the first day of school at Winter Street Elementary, two little girls immediately became friends. However, the friendship between the 9-year-old girls was cut short. When Aliahna Lemmon moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana the two kept in touch on Facebook and on the phone. That's when Kymberley heard her friend had disappeared.

Jimmy Lemmon died Dec. 3, and Plumadore continued to live in his home. The neighbors said Plumadore's only source of income was donating plasma, and they were beginning to wonder how he'd pay the rent. They said that after Jimmy Lemmon died, Plumadore seemed depressed but lately seemed to be recovering. Shumaker and Tulley agreed there was nothing in Plumadore's behavior to indicate he would do such a thing.

"Maroney said he hadn't recently talked with his daughter, Aliahna Lemmon, or her mother, because they frequently changed their phone number. Maroney said he knew the man accused of killing his daughter, 39-year-old Michael Plumadore, through his daughter's mother, Tarah Souders.

Maroney said he trusted Plumadore.

"I had no reason to suspect anything," he said."

The family of a slain Indiana girl has significant ties to the Centerville area. The Daily Iowegian has learned that Michael Plumadore, who was charged with killing Aliahna Lemmon Friday, was accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a 13-year-old girl in 2010.

whose 9-year-old daughter was murdered earlier this month after Souders and her family moved into a mobile home park that housed numerous registered sex offenders.

Michael Plumadore, who is charged with murder in connection with the girl's death on Dec. 22, is not a sex offender.

"I would seriously look into charging the mother with an 'A' felony, neglect causing death," Perry said, stressing that he was relying on news accounts for his facts.

Souders reportedly expressed concern about the sex offenders, but her father assured her that the children would not be harmed. Perry said Souders apparently "had knowledge of the situation and she just chose to leave her children in a situation that endangered their life and health."

Hundreds pay their respects at Aliahna's memorial service

Several hundred people came to the First Assembly of God, 1400 W. Washington Center Road, to support the family and remember Aliahna.

Nine rows of family members were present, but only one spoke.

“Do not stand by my grave and cry … I am not there, I didn't die,” read Elisabeth Sepponen, a cousin, as she concluded Mary Frye's “Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep.”

The service lasted about an hour. At the end, her mother Tara Souders slowly walked out, tears on her face and head bowed as a family member gently patted her back.
