A judge has denied bond for an Air Force sergeant accused in the shooting deaths of Byrd and Melanie Billings.

Donnie Ray Stallworth Jr. is one of eight people charged in the deaths.

The couple, who were known for adopting 13 special needs children, were killed in a July 9 home invasion. A safe was stolen from their home.

Stallworth appeared via video from jail in a Pensacola court Wednesday after he was extradited from nearby Brewton, Ala., where he turned himself in earlier this month.

The charges were filed by the state attorney's office.

Long Wiggins was out on $10,000 bond after being charged as an accessory after the fact in the deaths of Byrd and Melanie Billings, who were found slain in their home on July 9.

Florida couple's slaying was a contract hit, source says-CNN

The source said the state attorney's office is working under the belief that most of the suspects in the case thought they were there for a robbery, but that Leonard Gonzalez Jr., the alleged organizer of the crime, and other yet-unnamed suspects were plotting a hit on the couple.

The source said that from "Gonzalez down" it was a robbery and that from "Gonzalez up" it was a hit. The source was not sure of the motive behind the hit.

What if Jr and an "inside confederate" knew there were two safes; a small one and a large one, and the large one was known to contain the real loot, while the little was used as a McGuffin...

Two sources familiar with the investigation told CNN that a second safe at the home contained at least $100,000....

If the insider and the plan was good enough, heck, they could have gotten into the large safe, and gotten the money out of the large safe hours or even days in advance, perhaps leaving the adoption papers and a token amount behind for the police to 'discover'... then of course, during the actual home invasion, Byrd and Melanie need to be removed, and the gang needs to be diverted...

According to WEARTV the Sheriff will hold a presser at 7PM Central time tonight! He is expected to address CNN findings.

Court records show Pamela Wiggins had a husband in Alabama and Florida at the same time.

A marriage license shows James Malden and Pamela Long were married April 9, 2007 in Bay Minette.

"I am ashamed to say she was a good woman at one time, or she had me fooled. I am disappointed in her," said Malden.

Malden says things were going well in the first months of the marriage, but then life for the two started to get rough. That's when Long left and remarried Hugh Wiggins in Okaloosa County, Florida.
