In an interview this week, Raksnis discussed both the conduct issue and the process of reaching a verdict.

She quickly dismissed allegations that jurors had discussed the case with others before the verdict was reached. "I don't think it will be substantiated," Raksnis said.

But she was confident in the verdict reached by the panel of seven other women and four men. Raksnis said she was not certain of the appropriate verdict when the group began their deliberations. But over time, a clear picture emerged from a puzzle, despite the missing pieces, she said.

No evidence yet of juror misconduct in Jason Young retrial

RALEIGH, N.C. — The Superior Court judge who ordered an investigation into possible juror misconduct in the first-degree murder trial of Jason Young said Friday that the probe is not complete but that, so far, there's been no evidence of any wrongdoing.

A state Court of Appeals panel denied convicted murderer Jason Young a third trial this week, saying his complaints about what the jury was told about his long-running legal saga weren't serious enough to merit a re-trial.
