WDIV (Channel 4) teased a report about the 4th victim on their 4:00 and 5:00 newscasts, but the interview with "family members of the possible victim" won't be on until the 6:00 news. The victim has not yet been positively identified by the Wayne County Medical Examiner who will use dental records as in the 3rd victim's ID, but the family of 4th victim know that she was with Ms. McCrary on the night that she went missing.

Thank you for the updates BetteDavisEyes! I know Kalisha's mom wants answers and I hope she gets that and justice. I keep checking this case hoping they found her.

WDIV, Channel 4 news at 6:00: A male who wanted no other identification other than the name Cortez believes that the 4th victim is his fiancee, Tasha Curtis. He fears that, instead of planning a wedding, he will be planning a funeral.

Oh dear! What is going on in Detroit?? These poor women and their poor children. We can't let this monster/these monsters get away with this!

Please tell me that LE has their full resources on this! I know that Detroit is financially challenged these days, but that doesn't mean that it is 'acceptable' for it to be open season on women.

There has been no indication that the murders of these women are not getting full attention of DPD and other LE agencies. I just heard on WWJ radio (CBS affiliate) that a profiler has been brought in to help identify a possible suspect. I think it's safe to say that professionals are working this case despite the holiday weekend. jmo

I always listen to WWJ (news radio) when I'm in the car and heard an interview with a Detroit psychiatrist while I was running errands a while ago. The doctor says that the perp in this case is a very angry person who has little regard for the norms of society - a sociopath or psychopath. This person also has little respect for women that could stem from a variety of reasons. The psychiatrist has not been contacted by DPD or other LE agencies and is not aware of any local shrinks being brought into the investigation yet, but he (and others) have been consulted in previous cases.

Many thanks to my fellow WSers who continue to discuss cases in Detroit where I grew up. I know that the city gets a bad rap in the media, but I will always think of myself as a Motown girl even though I have lived in the northern suburbs since the early '70s. DH and I will spend New Year's Eve having dinner in the city and going to the Red Wings game. Whatever you are doing, I hope will have a safe and happy New Year's celebration :partyguy:

Leads in Missing Detroit Dancer Case Go Nowhere

A Detroit family gets some devastating news. Their daughter has been missing since November, and Tuesday they were told by police that, so far, the tips are leading nowhere.

Since those tips are leading nowhere, Kalisha Madden's mother said a detective told her that the case is now being pushed to the backburner. That is the last thing she wants to hear, and she is determined to make sure that does not happen.

[snip]

"I was really told today that basically they've exhausted a lot of the leads and that she would not be a priority anymore," Johnson told us. "It breaks my heart to look at her children and they ask me and I don't have an answer."

[snip]

Detroit Police told us that this is still an open and active missing persons case and they will follow every lead.
