Still Missing MI - Olisa Williams, 17 months, abducted, Ann Arbor, 8 July 1982 *dad arrest in 2021*

I wish there were more details available in this case. Why the heck was the father sleeping on a park bench? Hard to say what happened to her without knowing more. My first thought is that the father should be investigated as a suspect. This case reminds me of Jahi Turner, who was allegedly kidnapped from a park and is still listed as missing. Police discovered that no one saw him in the park that day-- in fact, no one saw him at all for two days prior to his disappearance-- and it's a definite probability that his stepfather harmed him and created the whole kidnapping scenario.
The DOE Network is still showing 8 Feb 1983 as the date of her disappearance.

At the beginning of the year, the Department accepted a referral from Ann Arbor Police Department to review the investigation.

Olisa’s legal father, Isiah Williams, took the then 9-month-old from Frazier-Daniel’s arms during a physical altercation on April 29, 1982. That was the last time she saw her daughter alive.

At the time, the couple was living in Ohio, however both had family and friends in Michigan. Williams has a lengthy history of domestic violence against Frazier-Daniel, much of which is detailed in contacts with police in both states.

Frazier-Daniel never stopped looking for her daughter, becoming heavily involved with missing person organizations over the years in addition to maintaining contact with police, including the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Olisa was never found and is now presumed dead.

At the beginning of 2021, the Department accepted a referral from Ann Arbor Police Department to review the investigation.

After meticulously reviewing the years of work done by the officer in charge, the Department has now charged Williams with one count of open murder in Washtenaw County’s 15th District Court. Williams is in custody and is currently in the process of being extradited from Chicago, where he has been living. Court dates will not be set until that process is complete.

ANN ARBOR, MI – A Washtenaw County judge found that, despite the lack of a body, there was enough evidence to send a father to trial for the murder of his infant daughter who disappeared in the summer of 1982.

Isiah Williams was bound over for trial Tuesday, May 2, on one count of open murder after a preliminary examination before Washtenaw County 14A District Judge Cedric Simpson who found there was more than enough evidence for a jury to consider the case.
