Petitioner’s convictions arise from the shooting death of Robin Page, in Ypsilanti, Michigan on May 21, 2005. Petitioner initially was charged with first-degree murder, felony firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm.

On December 5, 2005, he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, felony firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm... On January 23, 2006, the trial court sentenced Petitioner to a term of imprisonment of thirty to fifty years for the second-degree murder conviction...
