"Stand by me... I'm taking deep breaths in and out':

The harrowing WhatsApp voice note tragic schoolgirl Mia Janin, 14,

sent pal before taking own life after months of relentless bullying.

An inquest this week heard she was subjected to a vicious campaign of bullying by male pupils at school and online,
which saw her targeted in a degrading boys-only Snapchat group.

North London area coroner Tony Murphy, sitting at Barnet Coroner's Court, concluded yesterday
Mia 'took her life while still a child and while still in the process of maturing into adulthood'.

Mr Murphy said Mia was last seen alive at about 10pm on March 11 2021,
when she said goodnight to her parents in their family home.

She was found hanged by her parents at about 6.50am on March 12 2021.

Two undated letters in Mia's handwriting were found on her bed addressed to
'her loving family and friends', which 'explained that Mia decided to end her life'."

RIP :(

:(

Acute myeloid leukaemia is a terrible destroyer. My stepfather died seventeen days after he was hospitalised and diagnosed. It certainly wouldn't have helped her fight it if she was deep in grief.

As a teacher, I'm simply speechless.

Anybody whose photo is used publicly against the person wishes is punished by Law
(in my country)

It is Data Protection Law.
This kind of vile bullying is usually reported to Police.

But first - to School Authorities.

I simply do not understand this case :(
It boggles my mind!!!!

Inaction emboldens bullies!!!

A victim is not alone!
Ask for help!

As someone who endured severe bullying by dozens of older boys, bullying that did not stop until another student witnessed it and reported it, I understand how things could have got so bad for her. Even now, I think of the things these boys did, and so much of it sounds silly or harmless, but it created a situation where I felt nothing but fear and shame. I was stuck, because I would think of how I could put into words what they were doing, and I knew that nobody would do anything other than tell me to ignore them. I think the 'grey area' of a great deal of this harrassment happening online would have also been a big factor. She may have felt there was nothing she could do about it and nobody who could protect her.

In the school where I teach,
we have ZERO tolerance against bullying.

Every pupil knows where to report bullying.
There are teachers, a school counsellor, a headteacher.
And there are PARENTS.

We treat each case seriously.
Very seriously.

Parents are called to school.
There are meetings with parents, a class teacher, a counsellor and headteacher.
Usually it helps.

If not, more drastic methods are applied.

We have class meetings with psychologists explaining this issue to pupils.

If such case happened in my school (God forbid)
all kinds of Educational Authorities would descend, not to mention Police.

Every student KNOWS where to find help.
They are not alone.
Never alone!!!!

The day before she died, she sent a WhatsApp voice note to a friend saying she was "taking deep breaths" and "mentally preparing to get bullied" at school. An inquest into the teenager's death this week ruled she took her own life after she "experienced bullying behaviour from some male students"at the Jewish Free School (JFS) in Kenton.
*this is so very very sad. Prayers for her dad…

"The inquest heard
Mia's parents had several times raised concerns with JFS staff that
Mia was feeling lonely and isolated."

"He told the inquest that his daughter asked if she could move school on 11 March.

The inquest heard that Janin’s wife, Marisa,
who has since died,
told Mia she could be home-schooled for the rest of the school year,
and that they would look into moving her to a new school after."

More details....

"Mia's inquest at Barnet Coroner's Court heard how a group of boys picked on her in class, on buses and at home.

Male pupils kicked footballs at her and her friends, who were branded 'Suicide Squad' by bullies.

A Snapchat group chat called 'Panacha', which contained more than 60 boys from JFS and potentially other schools, was known to other children.

The boys used it to post photos of girls at the school to superimpose their faces on *advertiser censored* stars' bodies to mock them, and would share nude photos of female classmates after pressuring them to share images.

Mia and her friends never saw the chat but knew they were targeted because it was brought up by boys at the school.

The former JFS deputy head Rabbi Howard Cohen said there was 'some talk' at the school about 'boys-only bravado groups' sharing images of girls, but there was no reason to believe they were related to Mia.

He spoke to members of one group chat who disbanded it."

Ah, yes, humiliating your female classmates is “bravado.”

Respect for others should be taught at home.

I pity these males and their primitivism and vulgarity
They gave testimony to their upbringing
(or the lack of it).

As wise people say:
"If you aren't taught good manners at home,
you will be taught by strangers"

But it will be a shameful/humiliating lesson for you.

As for this school.
Staff surely know that ANY student under school's roof is staff's responsibility.

Young people have the right NOT to be abused while in school.

School should mean safety.

Black PR for this institution.
Shame!!!!!!

PS
My brother was taught respect for girls/women at home.
And guess what?
The girls in his class were in love with him.
Ha!
He was not only handsome (as a teen haha),
but he was a TRUE gentleman.
And girls LOVED it :D

He is still a charmer hahaha
But respectful and with a great sense of humour.

"Mariano Janin had previously said
his family
'was devastated'
the Met Police had lost significant evidence.

The force, at the time, said the sim card and handset had been examined by specialists, before it was put in a property store at Barnet police station with the intention of them returning it to her family at a later date.

But when her family requested the items to be returned last year, police were unable to find them."

"The father of schoolgirl
Mia Janin - who took her own life after she was bullied on social media -
has claimed her school asked the children to
'delete the messages'
amid a police investigation into her death."
