Forty people remain unaccounted for after heavy flooding in rural Virginia early Wednesday followed a night of torrential rain, as the governor declared a state of emergency.
Authorities in Buchanan County, in the southwestern part of the state, said more than 100 homes in the area were flooded, and several destroyed, but there are no confirmed fatalities.
