In tearful testimony Friday, Ashley Conrade recalled grabbing Shavelle Chavez-Nelson's arm to stop him as he moved to confront another man who'd paid her a compliment.

He shook her off. The other man, Palagor Jobi, threw a punch. Moments later, Chavez-Nelson shot him dead.

Conrade, Chavez-Nelson's on-again, off-again girlfriend of about a year at the time of the shooting, took the witness stand Friday in Chavez-Nelson's murder trial for Jobi's death.

Nelson has been convicted & sentenced to life in prison for the death of Palagor Jobi.

Nelson & his girlfriend Ashley Marie Conrade will be tried for the murder of Anarae next year. Conrade was out on $750,000 bond until she failed a drug test in late October & was rearrested. New bond $1,500,000. Don't know if she made it.

Conrade's defense attorneys filed a motion in Dakota County District Court this week saying they'll seek to have the charges against her thrown out. They cited lack of probable cause and "cumulative errors" from the grand jury proceedings.

They also want to suppress statements Conrade made, arguing a violation of her right to remain silent and to counsel, and to throw out forensic testing results of numerous items seized by police.

Among the items listed in the motion: a garbage bag prosecutors say was full of Schunk's bloody clothes, and an 8-inch kitchen knife found on the roof of Chavez- Nelson's estranged wife's apartment.

Conrade pleaded guilty to charges of aiding an offender in this case... Conrade has agreed to fully cooperate and testify in the trial of Chavez-Nelson, according to court documents.

Chavez-Nelson’s next court appearance is set for March 20, at 9 a.m. in Hastings. His trial is set for May 11...

Conrade will not be sentenced until after Chavez-Nelson's trial in Schunk's death is complete.

Great news. This is the third crime Conrade has committed with Shavelle Oscar Chavez Nelson & finally she will get some jail time.

What about the 1st and 2nd murder charges for Conrade? Gone? Boo.

I'm pleased that Anarae's family didn't have to go through the ordeal of a trial.
