I am so elated that they have two in custody. This was such a senseless crime. Killing of three people for nothing. This needs to stop.

So sad and senseless.....

What could possibly be worth this?

I'm glad the arrests have been made so quickly! Horrible for all involved but not surprised to find out my initial thoughts were on target. I'm not saying it's right that this was done, just that some people do become very unhinged with a divorce etc and you just can't tell what they might do.

link says outdated?

I'm trying to find the ages of the accused ... anyone have another link to the arrest warrants?

http://www.semissourian.com/story/1582413.html (At this link, there's a pic of the accused and a link to probable cause statement.)

"Jamie Lynn Orman and her 15-year-old son died Tuesday morning when a murder conspiracy aimed at Jamie Orman's boyfriend went wrong, documents filed with murder charges revealed. . .

Patterson is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, one for each of the Ormans and one for the unborn child. . .

Michelle Lawrence is charged with conspiracy to commit murder. . .

. . . Michelle Lawrence is not charged with the murders of the Ormans because her intent was that John Lawrence die, Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle said"

Much more info at link. Looks like the son was mistaken for the boyfriend by the killer.

Samuel Ray Hughes faces three counts of second-degree murder and one count of first-degree burglary.

The probable cause statement says Hughes rode with Ryan Patterson to the home at 1224 North Missouri.

....

Hughes told detectives he and Patterson entered the garage by cutting a window screen, but could not get in the house. He says Patterson sent him back outside to act as a lookout.

Hughes told investigators, "Ryan came back oustide quickly, within minutes. Ryan came running out and said 'Come on! Come on! We've got to go.'"

I find this case is haunting me. And I find it very troublesome that the ex-wife is only charged with one count of conspiracy to commit murder. I seriously doubt that she and her boyfriend didn't know that Jamie would be there. Further, if their intent was to get rid of her husband, John Lawrence, so that she could get the house and cash in on the insurance, then as heir to John Lawrence, the baby Jamie was carrying was an impediment to their goal. I just don't see why they aren't charging Michelle as an accessory to the triple murder. She helped plan it, and apparently bought the ammo for it. AND, lastly, if the son was killed because he was mistaken for the targeted ex-husband then, yes, she is directly responsible for his murder.

Deliberations in Patterson murder trial to begin following closing arguments

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 ~ Updated 11:36 AM
By Scott Moyers ~ Southeast Missourian

After less than an hour of testimony, Ryan Patterson's defense team rested Wednesday morning, with a jury set to begin deliberating -- following closing arguments after lunch -- whether he was the one who shot and killed a pregnant Jamie Orman and her teenage son Derrick in 2009.

From August 2011:

http://www.semissourian.com/story/1756832.html

Michelle Lawrence, the woman who pleaded guilty to conceiving a plot to kill her husband for insurance money, was sentenced to 15 years in prison Friday for her role in a botched plan that instead resulted in the 2009 murders of a pregnant woman and her teenage son...

Patterson was sentenced to three life sentences earlier this month in Jackson for the deaths, including for Orman's unborn child, after his conviction by a Pemiscot County jury.
