Jon Cearlock was sentenced Monday to 34 years in prison for the murder of a Bethalto woman in 2005.

A St. Clair County jury found Cearlock, 25, of St. Louis, guilty Feb. 26 of first-degree murder for the July 2005 killing of Paula Weinmann, 36. An earlier trial ended with a hung jury almost three years ago.

Weinmann was shot once in the head after meeting Cearlock in a night of drinking after a Cardinals baseball game.
