Is this just an assumption based on where his car was found or was he known to be suffering depression?
I mean the car's location I guess does unfortunately suggest that.

I've never come across any information on whether or not he suffered from depression.

The same day someone was found further along the river (but had a 4week PMI so it's not him, just interesting)

Also how far would one conceivably travel down the river? (probably not him as it's quite a distance)

Just noticed you were looking for Mississippi river, but Ricky is believed to be in Missouri river.

The Missouri River empties into the Mississippi River, north of St. Louis, MO. I'm not sure its possible it could have made its way to the Mississippi, but you never know. If someone goes into the middle section of the river, they could float quite a distance.

They have a lot of rule outs from Virginia. Does LE have some reason to believe he may have gone to Virginia?

There always are. Virginia is really on it in terms of comparisons, specialist team just doing this. I wish all states had the same set up.
Really, that would be great if they all did so well.

JMO solving these disappearances and cold cases not only provide justice for victims and peace of mind for families, but they reveal a lot of valuable information about crimes and criminals that can be useful in future investigations.
